"Will you sit still for me second please," Alex says to me as I fidget around in the couch
"I'm sorry mom, I haven't seen Rachel in weeks and I'm just excited," I say checking the time yet again waiting for her to arrive
We're playing the Dash tomorrow and Kristie and Rach are coming over along with Syd and Dom to have a bbq in the garden. Rach and I have been texting each other all the time since camp and I've been waiting for this day since we started the season back up
"I can just tell you two are going to be running around the garden all night," Ali says coming into the room and kissing me on the head
"If Millie was here we'd definitely do some crazy stuff," I say to her thinking about all the stuff the three of us have planned
for next camp
Just as Alex is about to say something too the doorbell goes and I take that as my cue to leap up and sprint to the front door. I pull open the door quickly and see Rachel standing there with a high smile on her face and her arms open
"Speedy!" She shouts as I jump into her arms and hugging her tightly
"Oh I've missed you," She says finally putting me back on the ground
"I've missed you too Rachey," I say smiling up at my national teammate
"What don't I get a hug or something?" I hear Kristie say beside me.
A smile spreads scores my face as I leave Rachels embrace and move into Kristie's having missed her too.
"Hey Kris, and of course you get a hug you're my favourite Dash player after all," I tell her getting a gasp out the English woman
"That's just rude, I thought we had something going on here speedy," Rachel says sarcastically
"I only hung around with you cause you're Kristie's girlfriend Rach," I say and make my way back into the house with a smirk on my face
"Kristie good to see you again," Mom says going up to his her former teammate
"You too Alex, congrats on the adoption as well," She tells my mom who smiles down at me
"Thanks Kristie, we're pretty happy about it," Mom says sending a wink my way
"I would hope so, we didn't throw her a party for nothing," Rachel says making me laugh
"So I heard, thank you for doing that Rachel, I really wanted to be there to celebrate with her but from what Kates told me you guys made it a special night" Mom say pulling Rachel in for a hug too
"It was my pleasure, I think I was more excited than Kate when she told me," Rachel tells us all and I laugh at the memory of us in the hotel room
"Well everyone is in the back soaking up the sun before it goes down," Mom says and we head out into the garden where Ash and dad are manning the grill and Ali is sipping a glass of wine
"Hey guys, good to see you again Kristie," Ali says coming up to hug her
"You too Ali, congratulations on the marriage by the way," Kristie says looking over to smile at Ash as well
"Thanks Kristie," Ali says smiling at her
"when is Syd getting here by the way," I ask mom
"She's just getting Cassius and Roux sorted so she's running a bit late" Mom explains and I smile at the thought of my niece and nephews coming over
I let Kristie catch up with her old teammates and Rachel and I head over to the hammock near the end of the garden.
"So how have things been since camp ended then speedy?" Rach asks me moving herself into a comfortable position
