Kay's POV

I huffed and slumped down beside the cardboard box on the living room floor. "Alisa, Naomi, Did you guys finish putting your donation stuff in the box?"

"Yeah Kay I think we got it all. At this point these kids are gonna have more food than us." Naomi said.

"Naomi stop it! It's important to provide for the less fortunate." said Alisa.

I just shook my head and stood up to stretch. "Oooof~ My bacckkkkk" I groaned.

"Kay you gotta get out more hun." giggled Alisa and walked towards her bedroom. "I'm gonna go call my mom."

Naomi looked at me. "Do you think you can handle this by yourself? I'm beat."

"Yeah no worries Naomi, I got this. I'll be back before you know it, you go get some rest."

"Okay... Well, you'd better hurry. The main building will be closed in.." she looked at her watch, "Twenty minutes."

Oh jeez i've really gotta burn rubber.

I grabbed the box and wrapped my arm around it, using my free hand to open the door. "Okay, thanks Naomi! Bye!" I adjusted the box in my arms and kicked the door closed before fast walking down the hallway.

The evening air felt humid and thick on my skin as I walked outside into the yard. I turned to head towards the main building and began lightly jogging, as fast as I could considering my hands were full.

I'm soooo hungry. I can not wait to turn this stuff in and get back to the dorm. I'll make ramen or something. I guess I could maybe just make a sandwich. Or I could have both. No one will be awake to stop me. Maybe I'll add some chips to the mix. And then...

Thwack.

"Owwww."

I sat there rubbing my temples for a second before I looked up to see what I had head butted so hard.

Oh. The door. Makes sense.

I giggled at my own stupidity and knocked on the door to the main building. A staff member ran over and opened the door to let me inside.
I uttered my thanks and walked deeper into the lobby.

Scanning the room, my eyes landed on a sign labeled "DONATIONS HERE."

Ah. I walked over and set the box on the table beside several others. Sighing happily, I turned to exit the room. My sneakers were quiet on the tile floor of the building.

I stepped out the door into the yard and before too long I was back at the entrance to the dorm building. I walked over to the elevator.

"OUT OF ORDER." was printed in big letters on the front.

Uuggghh. Great.

I jogged up the stairs to the next floor. And then the next. When I turned to the stairs again, I paused.

Something smells good. Something smells really good. Like.....fried chicken good.
