Alanna Sky Bauer

We fell asleep on the picnic blanket laid out in front of the tent, thankfully, it didn't rain. The cold morning breeze blew making me shiver but the warm heat from the sun made it bearable. I woke up with Astrid wrapped in between my arms, she was still sleeping soundly. I slightly lifted myself up with my elbows. She furrowed her eyebrows and scrunched her nose when the sunlight blanketed her face, I smirked at the sight and tried to block the light with my hand. Her lips carefully formed a smile as she slowly opened her eyes.

"Hey" she let out a deep sigh as she stretched her arms and wrapped it around me

"Good morning" she whispered while leaving a kiss on my cheek before burrying her head on my neck

Pause.

I wished for the hands of time to stop, for everything to stay as it is, still, like water untouched.

"Good morning" I replied as I hugged her back even tighter

"Let's go back inside" my hand traced her back and then her arms until I was gently holding her hand

As we entered the house, a familiar voice echoed through the room. I couldn't remember who it is but it felt really familiar

"Alanna!" A little girl shouted as she ran towards me

"Ash what are you doing here?" I asked in confusion as I kneel down to her level

"Mommy said we're going to meet her sister and grandpa" she replied while giving me a hug

"Your mommy?" I uttered almost whispering when a woman stood before us

Amarra.

Dad stood frozen beside her as my eyes shifted back and forth from Amarra and him.

"Hi little sis, how have you been?" She uttered forcing a smile, leaving me unable to speak

I looked at her, I felt tears building up and I tried holding them back. Emotions started clouding me. I felt happy seeing her back, I wanted to run to her arms, but I also felt broken and furious as I hark back to our hurtful past when she left me without saying goodbye or even any reason why. Those were times when I felt my world crumbled, when I felt like the only ray of hope I had suddenly disappeared, I leaned on her when I was weak and couldn't stand on my own that when she left I fell and was shattered to pieces.

Amarra looked at me with her eyes full of pain and sadness. How can she give that impression when she's the one who left? How can she suddenly come back after all these years?

Tears fell from my eyes as soon as I looked away.

"I'm sorry" she slowly walked towards me hesitating to give me a hug

Angered and disheartened, I removed her hands and gently pushed her, though I was mad I could never bear to hurt her.

I walked out on them and headed to my car, Astrid followed me trying to stop me

"Alanna stop, try to talk to her" she pleaded but I refused to listen, I just wanted to get out of here

"Alanna don't run away" she uttered
