TW: mentions of devils

*Roman POV*

It's our fourth day of camping. Virgil's stings have faded for the most part and we've been spending all day messing around in the woods. We still have three more days here, and to be honest, it's quite fun. Virgil tells some amazing ghost stories.

"So what's your big plan for today?" Virgil asks.

I shrug.

"Make up a new game. Get some food at the little shop place," I say.

Virgil nods.

"Heard anything from the outside world at all?" he asks.

I nod.

"Pat texted me this morning and Logan told me to try and stay out of trouble again. More specifically, get you to stay out of trouble," I say.

Virgil snorts.

"He's protective, isn't he?" he says.

"Yeah, well, you did get attacked by wasps our first day here," I say.

"And? Wasps are little devils. And not the cool kind," he says.

"There are cool devils?" I ask.

"Just ask your brother," Virgil says.

"Not sure if you're implying he's a devil or meets up with devils, but ok," I say.

Virgil just smirks.

"Ok, let's go to the store first," he says.

---

Hours pass and we spend most of the day outdoors. It's around 9 PM and completely dark out. Virgil went off an hour ago looking for fireflies, because 'those pretty little jerks aren't going to stay hidden from me'. Little does he know there aren't any fireflies here.

He's been gone a while. I think I should go looking for him.

I get up and out of the tent, grabbing my jacket, and head off into the woods, calling out for Virgil.

15 minutes of searching later, and nothing.

"Virgil? Virge, it's getting dark, let's go back!" I call out.

No response.

"Hot Topic, this isn't funny," I say.

Still nothing.

"I will call Logan and Patton," I say.

Nothing. Ok, he's not messing with me. This is bad.

20 minutes go by of me frantically searching the forest. As I'm running around I trip over something.

"Ow," someone says.

I steady myself and turn around.

"Virge?" I ask.

"What?"

"Oh thank god you're ok," I say, my voice full of relief.

"Yeah, well, ok probably isn't the best term, but I'm alive," he says.

"Why didn't you respond when I was calling you?" I ask.

"Well, I could hardly hear you, and when I could I could hardly breathe, let alone yell," he says.

I help him up.

"Can you stand?" I ask.

He falls back on the ground in response.

"Yeah, everything hurts, especially my back," he says.

I pick him up. He's still light. Almost as light as before.
