CHAPTER 31: Scalpel's Blade

"Tawag ka lang sa akin...just tell me if someone is bullying you. Some of the general surgery residents is a little bit mean." Bilin ni James sa kanya nang ihatid niya si Melissa sa tapat ng OR.

This is her first day of residency. To be able to enter the neurosurgery, Missy needs one year internship in general surgery. Her chosen specialty is the most gruelsome and longest of all the specialties, yet she is excited to start. Keeping herself busy is the easiest way to heal and move on. But having James in her side is a bonus. Her two weeks with him had slowly erased all the pain she have. Actually, the pacing is too fast. James and her is on the stage of dating without a label. Less than a lover but more than friends.

"Mas mean ako sa kanila noh! No one bullies Missy. Subukan lang nila...I will fire all of them." She confidently said as she crossed her arms and raised her chin.

"Fire talaga ha? Hindi ba pwedeng suspension muna?" Natawa si James.

"Wala ng suspension, fire agad. Hindi pwedeng i-bully ang..." She paused and lean over his ears.

"Hindi pwedeng i-bully ang future girlfriend ng future medical director ng AMC Michigan. Kasali yun sa policy and protocols." Bulong ni Melissa kay James.

"Kahit pa hindi ako maging medical director, no one can bully you. No one can a lay hand nor talk behind your back. Lagot sila sa akin lahat." Bulong din ni James kay Missy.

"Speaking of talking behind my back, hay! I don't care! First day ko pa lang dito pero mainit na ang mata sa akin ng mga babaeng residente. Pero wala ako pakialam...manigas sila sa inggit." Sabi niya sabay buntong hininga nang makita ang grupo ng babaeng tila gusto siyang tirisin.

Hindi niya gawain ang umangkla kay James, pero nang makita niya ang grupo ng mga babaeng doktor na iyon, mahigpit siyang umangkla sa braso ng binata. Isinandal din niya ang ulo sa braso ni James. She smirked when she saw how annoyed they were. Mas lalo pang nainis ang grupo ng mga babaeng doktor nang halikan ni James si Missy sa noo.

"Sige na...just call me, hmmm?" James held her chin and kissed her forehead again.

"Mm..." Tumango si Missy saka tinungo ang sliding door ng operating room.

Pero bago pa makalayo si James ay mabilis niya itong hinabol at hinarang.

"Bakit? Are you having cold feet in entering the-"

Hindi natapos ni James ang sinasabi niya. Melissa tiptoed and kissed him in the cheek. A very quick kiss before she run away from him. She was ashamed of what she did but it just came as a normal reflex. Running towards him, the tiptoe part and the kiss in his cheek. Her body has its own mind. Mabilis siyang pumasok sa operating room at hindi na inantay pa ang reaksyon ni James.

Oh my God! Did I just kiss him?

Nakahawak si Melissa sa dibdib niya nang magsarado ang sliding door. She can't stop smiling as she walked. Para siyang teenager sa kilig na araw-araw niyang nararamdaman. James never failed to give her that butterfly feeling since her day one in Michigan.

Chill! This is your first day...you need to focus Missy!

Paalala ng dalaga sa sarili nang makita ang mga fellow at consultant. Nandun din ang grupo ng mga babaeng mainit ang mga mata sa kanya. She will not let those women ruin her mood. Melissa greeted them with confidence and professionalism. This will be a long day for her, yet she's looking forward to see James on her break time. That thing is enough for her to have positive vibes.

Damn it...I miss her bigtime! Should I shift to neurosurgery for me to see her every second?

Nakangiting naglalakad si James at nakahawak sa pisngi niya kung saan dumampi ang labi ni Melissa. Wala pang sampung minuto mula nang maghiwalay sila pero gusto na niyang pabilisin ang takbo ng oras para makita na niya uli ang dalaga.
