Faked Rivalry (Choni)

2. First Impressions

Previously (Toni's POV:) This wasn't how I pictured her from Bettys description. Although I could tell she was only acting like this because she was broken. And I was down for a challenge.

Toni's POV:
(Hours after the game)
"Jughead!" I yelled outside of this trailer, banging on his door.
"What." he opened the door and answered, he sounded half asleep.
"Did you get the photos? I'm going to write the article now."
"Oh yeah, sorry. I'll email them to you now. I don't know why you had to come all the way over here" he said.
"I came over here because I know you Jughead. We've been best friends since I was 13. You would either forget, or just wouldn't email it because you're lazy." I stated laughing at the end of the sentence.
"Whatever Tiny" I heard Sweetpea say from the back.
"Let me guess. He said he had something important and actually didn't but Betty couldn't come and he didn't want to nap alone?" I replied
"Couldn't be more correct there" Sweetpea groaned.
"You're such a baby Jug" Fangs responded from the back of the room.
"I'm here now, and you all didn't invite me. You guys wanna play some games?" I asked
"I'm down" Sweetpea replied back with Fangs and Jughead saying something similar. I was planning to write the article later.
"So who was that earlier today?" Fangs asked.
"Who?" I responded
"The redhead. What's her name? Cherry or something like that." Fangs replied
"Her name was Cheryl, and the HBIC of the other team. She was sorta a bitch though." I stated
"Hah, and what. You intrigued by that?" Sweetpea asked.
"No." I responded with a flat tone. "I literally don't even know her"
"Betty's one of her good friends and cousin. She sounded nice to me but apparently she just doesn't warm up to people" Jughead responded
"Oh. I guess that's somewhat normal" I replied
"Invite her next time Betty comes around. I wanna meet her" Fangs said
"Sure I guess." Jug replied.
I didn't really know how to respond to it, I highly doubted she would even accept the invitation anyways so I was unbothered.

Cheryl's POV:
My phone buzzed from a text message Betty had sent.

Betts🔍:
Hey Cheryl, Jughead just invited me to his trailer tomorrow. He said that one of his friends mentioned you and the rest want to meet you. You going to come?

Yeah no. Not coming. They're snakes Betty. I still don't know why you're dating one. Especially him. He's a hobo.

Betts🔍:
Oh come on. What are you even doing. Plus they're asking about you. Shouldn't that be interesting enough?

Whatever I'm doing, reading or just anything will be better then hanging out with them.

Betts🔍:
Cheryl. Stop, is this about Jason? I thought you had forgiven Jughead and FP.

How dare you bring Jason into this! And to be honest, no. If they had a part in Polly's death would you forgive them?

Betts🔍:
Cheryl they're not all like that. FP did it to protect his son. Give them a chance, your father was the mastermind.

And my father has paid for it.

Betts🔍:
Yeah exactly, so come on. It'll be fun probably.

Ugh I swear, if they annoy me I'm leaving.

Betts🔍:
Yay! Thank you!

I hadn't forgiven the serpents. A small part of me wanted to but I'm not there yet. They haven't proved they're any use to me. So, I haven't forgiven them yet.

Toni's POV:
"5-2 Jug and I win!" I screamed in excitement
"Dammit Pea!" Fangs yelled
"Guess I have to take Toni's next 2 shifts at the Wyrm." Sweetpea sighed
"Well what do I have to do Jug?" Fangs asked
"I don't know, maybe host a serpent meeting so I get some time off, and get some Northside views of the game." Jughead said
"Does anyone still even read the Red and Black" Sweetpea asked
"Don't think so. I like it though, gives me more time to work on my photography and also will look good on a college application" I said
They all laughed
"You're really a softie Tiny, don't know why you don't act like this at school more often." Fangs said
"Well I think I do act like this around you guys at school?" I stated, a little confused
"Yeah but just in general" Fangs responded
"Eh, it's sort of fun though. I get to be myself and people like me for it and I also get to be someone I'm not and my confidence somewhat improves" I replied.

The next day

"Alright Fangs, off you go to the Northside." Jughead said, handing Fangs a notebook.
"That's rough dude. I don't know the last time someone's gone to Riverdale High during school hours" Sweetpea stated
"It was probably Jughead, going to see Betty or whatever" I laughed
"Yeah yeah. It's not that bad. They don't even acknowledge you're there." Jughead responded

Fang's POV:
I walked into the large doors of Riverdale High and everyone started immediately at me. Why the hell were there so many people inside? I thought it was lunch. Turns out it was passing period. "Um, does anyone know where the Newspaper team room is?" I called out
"Who are you. Actually no don't say anything. I'm Cheryl Blossom, Riverdale High's HBIC and it girl." a redhead girl said.
"Oh! So you're the redhead Toni was talking about" I said with joy in my voice
"Toni... Topaz?" she asked
"Yeah, do you know her." I replied
"Not really. She's more of an annoyance to me." she responded
"Well if you're the right Cheryl you're supposed to be coming with a Betty today so I would shut it if I were you." I hissed back
"Wow. You really are scum, newspaper room is down the hall to the left." she smiled devilishly at the end of her sentence. She was a nightmare, but was she really like that? I entered the newspaper room and Betty and a tall brown haired boy were standing inside.
"Fangs!" Betty screamed in excitement, running over to hug me.
"Hey Betty!" I tried to match her excitement, but she was always too excited. It was too hard.
"What are you doing here?" She asked
"I'm here to get some Northside views on the game. Jughead and Toni said they think it'll look good on their college applications" I said, doing my best to mock them in the last part
Betty laughed, "Yeah that's definitely something Jug and Toni would say. So how about you interview Kevin? I've gotta go catch up with Cheryl and Veronica but I'll be back soon. I promise!" Betty crossed her heart and left.
"Well, nice to meet you.. did she say Kevin?"
he nodded in response.
"I'm Fangs" I said
"Well you already know my name, I don't think I'll say it again" he laughed
"Alright well.." I said, getting the interview started.

Kevin and I exchanged numbers after Betty had finished her interview. Betty sent a wink as I walked out. Wow, I had now understood how Toni felt yesterday afternoon when Sweetpea asked her about Cheryl.
