"-Then he naw seized her phone, he naw said if she doesn't get an A in Chemistry this term, he wouldn't give her back" I burst out laughing "It's funny shey?" I turn the person I've been talking to and realize his attention is somewhere else, he's staring at something behind me
I turn my head to see what he's staring at just for me to see Dieko who is sitting with Nmeso and a guy in our class, she throws her head back laughing at something they said, I'm so happy she's getting along with everyone and she's settling in fine but what I don't get is why Timi is staring at her
Ummm...I hope it's not what I'm thinking o
"Timi" I snap my fingers in front of his face "Earth to Timi"
"What?"
"I've been talking since, were you even listening to me?"
"Sorry jare, I just got distracted for a minute"
"Ehn, what distracted you?"
Or rather who?
"It's nothing"
"Umm, Timi, I hope it's not what I think o"
"What?"
I lower my voice so that only him can hear what I'm saying
"I hope you don't like Dieko" I murmur
"Ehn?, What?, No, of course not"
"Good, it should better stay like that"
"Calm down naw" He chuckles
"I'm just telling you"
"Oya what were you saying?"
I eye him, is this one mad?
"Please get out, I've been talking since and you weren't listening, I'm not gisting you again" I feign annoyance
"Ahan naw, I'm sorry"
I open my mouth to reply when his phone rings, he brings it out of his pocket, when I see the caller ID, I furrow my eyebrows in confusion
"Why is Yemisi calling you?" I ask him
"How am I supposed to know?, Is it not when I pick it that I would know?"
I roll my eyes
"Just answer it"
He presses the green button
"Why are you calling me when we are in the same compound?" He speaks up
Pause
"Inside the toilet?, How come?"
Pause
"Okay, I'll come with Feyi now"
Pause
"Okay sha, I'm coming" He hangs up
"What's wrong?"
"She said she's locked inside the toilet so I should come and help her open the door"
"Did someone lock her inside?"
"My God, Feyi" He groans "How am I supposed to know?, I've been sitting here with you since naw"
My hand makes contact with his chest
Mumu
"You're too violent" He rubs the spot I hit him, it wasn't even hard sef "Just like Dieko"
I purposely choose to ignore his last statement
"Did she say what toilet she was locked in?"
He nods as we both stand to our feet and leave the classroom, it takes about five minutes to get to the other end of the school compound where the junior school toilet is
Now that I think about it, what exactly was she doing there?, The senior school toilet is just a few metres away from our block
I have to hold my breath as we enter the toilet, chaii, it's like this junior students can not just keep this place clean, there's no student here except us because break is already over
Ah, if Mr Paul should punish me, Yemisi would hear it
Timi knocks on each door until we finally find the one Yemisi is in, he unlatchs the hook of the door and Yemisi steps out
"Ah, Thank God you came fast, I was so scared" She hugs him
I stay quiet my arms crossed over my chest
"Yeah, what were you doing here?" Timi speaks my mind
"We don't have to worry about that, as far as you're here" She places her hand on his cheek
Wait o, am I that small that she can't see me?, What is all this?, Has she forgotten Timi is her best friend?
Best friend o, not boy friend, abi is she confused?, Maybe the stench from the toilets has messed with her brain
"Yeah, let's get back to class, lectures would have started already" Timi tries to disconnect her hand from him
"We can just stay-"
I clear my throat loudly making my presence known
"Break is over, we have Further Maths now" I glare at Yemisi
"I didn't know you were here" Her eyes look everywhere but at me "I thought you came alone, Timi"
"Yeah, I was talking to Feyi when you called so I couldn't just leave her there" He scratches the back of his neck awkwardly
"I guess I'll just go" She starts walking towards the door, I wait for her to get to where I'm standing before I grip her arm stopping her, I give Timi a sweet smile when he gives me a questioning look as he leaves
"You have some explaining to do" I whisper in her ear
She loosens her arm from my grip before storming out of the toilet
I shake my head in disgust
This is not the Yemisi I know
