I place my head on the table as I feel water welling up in my eyes

Why isn't he replying me?

I send another message again

"Hi" It simply reads because I don't know what else to say, and that is the exact same message I've sent to Akin five different times for the past hour since we got here

I don't even know why I agreed to come to this party, it's a birthday party thrown by a girl I don't even know, this Feyi ehn, so annoying, after dragging me here, she naw left me

I look at my phone again, the two clear ticks under the messages clearly shows they've been delivered, he's online but he doesn't want to answer me, I've tried calling him but he's not picking

Oh God, what am I going to do?

"You okay?" A voice says making me look up

I really don't want him here, I just want to be alone

I sigh "I'm fine"

"You don't look fine"

"I said I'm fine, okay?"

"Then why are you sitting here all alone?"

"I like being alone" I snap

Can't he take a hint?

"Dieko, we're friends, you can tell me anything" He reaches for my hand that is placed on the white table but I move it away quickly placing it on my lap

Why does he want to touch me abeg?

A look of hurt flashes in his eyes before he stands up

"I'll see you around"

The throbbing feeling in my chest increases, I just don't know what to do and now I feel like a bad person, he was just trying to help and I didn't treat him well

I put my head down again, I should never have come to this party

"Do you know what is wrong with Dieko?" Lanre asks

I look over at my cousin who is scribbling absent-mindedly on a book, she's been like this since last week, she doesn't talk much anymore, she's always lost in thought and she's not even telling me anything. I've tried to ask her if there's anything wrong but she always waves me off

"Nope" I shake my head "She doesn't want to talk to me"

"Who is she naw going to talk to?, She seems..." Nmeso trails off as if looking for the right word

"Sad?" Bridget finishes "I thought I was the only one who noticed, yesterday I went to ask her for her Physics textbook, she was just staring at the white board, it was as if I wasn't talking to her

"Try talking to her again naw, Feyi, she's your cousin"

I shake my head remembering the happenings of last week

I had just finished having my bath, I came out from the bathroom and saw Dieko lying down on the bed, she didn't even notice my presence, I decided to talk to her maybe she would open up to me, I'm her cousin after all

"Why are you staring at the ceiling?, Abi is there anything interesting there?" I asked trying to make a joke

She didn't reply

"D naw, just tell me what's doing you, I can help you o"

"I don't think you can" She finally spoke

"So you can talk sef and you've been behaving dumb since, oya try me"

She opened her mouth to say something but closed it back, she was hesitating

"Is it that don't you trust me or what?"

"I don't know where to start from"

"Start from anywhere" I prepare myself to hear what's bothering her. Thank God she was finally talking

She remained silent for a while before she turned to face me fully

"Why are you always meddling into my business?, You don't tell me anything but yet you cajole me into telling you everything"

Was she really saying this to me?

"What are you talking about Dieko?, I'm just trying to help you"

"I told you our real reason of moving here, something I didn't even tell my best friends"

"Cause we are family D, blood is thicker than water"

"I don't care okay?, All I know is mind your own business, stop trying to know every single thing about me, I don't like it"

I stayed quiet and minutes later I heard the room door slam shut

I was so sure that wasn't Dieko speaking, it was the effect of whatever was wrong with her, but I did exactly what she wanted, I stayed away from her

It's currently 11:56am, I typed this in the kitchen while boiling chicken 😂

I know my chapters have been short, I have a reason for that, I don't know how to explain it but there's sha a reason

Question of the chapter: If you had the ability to have a super power, what would you want to have?

My Answer: I would want to have the ability to read people's minds
