Time travel, a popular theme for many stories. They're mostly sci-fi themed but not Inuyasha. Time travel in Inuyasha is about destiny and souls. A seemingly normal girl, Kagome, falls in 'the bone eaters well' and blacksout. This well is centuries old. When Kagome wakes up, she find herself in the Edo period. We witness her destiny in Inuyasha.
Inuyasha is a perfect blend of action and roma nce. It can fit in both the shonen and the shojo demographic. The animation is of the classic and old school kind but is still aesthetic.
What I love about this show is that the pacing. It has a lot of characters and gives us enough time to watch and understand each one of them. The plot also unravels at a good pace, with foreshadowing which are unveiled later and tie in together beautifully. The writing is simply phenomenal especially the comic timings! Inuyasha is a must watch for all fans, regardless of the genre you prefer (unless you only like realistic, slice of life anime). This anime ended about a decade ago, but is getting sequel, Yasha Hime : Princess half demon.
