LAVENDER
Nagising ako ng maaga dahil hindi ako mapakali kaya naman tumambay ako sa may terrace ng aming kwarto tulog pa lang sina Hecate at Selene. Naalala ko ang bilin nila kaya naman pinagkasya ko na lang ang sarili ko sa lugar na iyon. Kumusta na kaya sina Hades? Kailan kaya sila babalik? I can’t wait to tell to Hades the good news.
Nung magising ang dalawang kasama ko ay nagtungo kami sa dining hall para mag-umagahan. Nagsiyukuan ang lahat ng madaanan namin na mga alipin dito sa palasyo ni Zeus. Napaatras ako nung makita ko sina Aphrodite at Athena sa hapag-kainan.
“Hi, come and eat with us.” friendly na sabi ni Athena at si Aphrodite ay ngumiti lang sa amin. Ipinaghila ako ng upuan ni Hecate. “I heard the news that you are pregnant with Hades’ child.” Aphrodite said and she drinks water from her glass. I smiled to her and nodded. “That’s good. Hades will rejoice.” she added.
“Hopefully.” I commented kaya binitawan ni Athena ang kaniyang utensils. “What do you mean by that?” she curiously asked. “I’m still worried if Hades will accept our child.” I said in low voice but enough for them to hear my words.
“Hades prayed for this to happen, Lavender. Don’t doubt his feelings. He was about to become father before but things happened so it was delayed.” Aphrodite said kaya tumango na lang ako.
Bigla akong tinamaan ng hiya, paano ko ba nasasabi iyon sa harapan ng kaniyang pamilya?
The breakfast was fine but Persephone appeared like a bitch again. I rolled my eyes on her. “Congratulations on your pregnancy, Lavender.” she said at alam kong labas iyon sa kaniyang ilong. I fake smile to her. “Thank you.” I happily said. Umismid si Athena saka sinamaan ng tingin ang babaeng kararating lang.
Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, kamag-anak nila ito? Incest is not a big deal for them.
“Persephone, I used to be favored to you but after all the things you’ve done to my brother I hate you now. Now, my brother found his way out from your dungeon, don’t ever interrupt their relationship especially that they are going to build a family. The family you deprived from Hades.” walang ka-abog abog na sabi ni Aphrodite kay Persephone. Napalunok ako dahil sa intense na mga lumabas na salita kay Aphrodite.
I saw how her tears escaped from her beautiful eyes. Bigla akong naawa sa kaniya kahit hindi ako ang pinagsabihan ni Aphrodite, napakasakit nu’n na dinggin.
“I understand where you hates coming from. I committed adultery, I broke your brother’s heart but it’s not my intentional to kill my child, Aphrodite!” Persephone burst out.
Athena and Aphrodite laugh like it was the greatest joke they have ever heard pero kami nina Hecate ay di man lang maka-tawa o makapagsalita.
“Whatever your reason is, it will not erase from our memories that you killed your child.” Athena said and stood up from her chair. “Excuse me, guys. Thank you for the food.” she said and stormed out from the dining hall. Padabog naman na umalis si Aphrodite.
“Shall we go too, Queen?” Selene asked so I nodded tumayo ako saka tumalikod na kay Persephone.
“I still love Hades.” I heard she said kaya napatigil kaming tatlo sa paglalakad. Marahas na humarap sina Hecate sa kaniya habang ako ay nanatiling nakatalikod. “The King doesn’t anymore.” Selene harshly said. “I loved him, I still love him and I will love Hades.” Persephone repeated kaya naman humarap na ako sa kaniya.
“So?” malamig kong tanong sa kaniya. “Lavender, let’s go.” Hecate said but I didn’t listen. “Don’t ask me to give him up for you because I will never do that.” sabi ko sa kaniya. “Okay. I will make him do that, Lavender.” she said. She even smirked at me. “The challenge is still on.” she said and disappeared with her thin air.
Kumuyom ang aking mga kamao. “Bullshit. That bitch!” Selene hissed. “Queen, huwag kang makikinig sa kaniya. She’s a witch!” Selene added. “Fuck! No way. My witches don’t act like that; she’s more likely a dog! A bitch!” Hecate said.
“I wanna go somewhere. I want to relax.” iyon na lang ang nasabi ko. “O-okay, Queen. Let’s head to the fresh-water spring. Malapit lang iyon dito and safe iyon.” Selene said. “Ang dami mong alam dito ah?” tanong ko sa kaniya, she smiled at me. “This was my home before, Queen. Not until Hecate abducted me.” she said.
Hecate rolled her eyes on me. “It’s not my fault that you’ve bitten my trap!” she defended and they just bicker to each other.
“Let’s go now.” pagpapatigil ko sa kanila at agad naman silang tumigil saka humawak si Hecate sa kamay ko. “I’m not paralyzed.” I said. “Queen, it’s my first time to deal with pregnant human and I don’t know how to handle your mood swings.” she said kaya naman tumiklop kaagad ang bibig ko.
Naglakad kami papunta du’n at kitang-kita ko ang ilang mga batang naglalaro sa kabukiran. I smile somehow the children’s laughter make me feel better than a while ago. “Your child will grow up soon and he/she will play like that.” Selene said so I nodded.
Pakiramdam ko may kumikiliti sa tiyan ko sa imahe na namumuo sa utak ko. Na-eexcite na yata ang baby ko kahit hindi pa siya buo at dugo pa lamang siya.
“Is there any goddess or what na nagbabantay sa spring na ‘to?” tanong ko saka umupo sa isang bato. Napakaganda ng lugar at tunay nga na nakaka-relax. Kung hindi lang ako buntis, maliligo ako dito. “The Naiades. They are the one who takes care of this one.” Hecate answered.
So I nodded.
“I am pissed to Persephone.” I stated to them. Hindi naman nagsalita ang dalawa bagkus ay nakikinig lang sila. “I admit I am kindly threatened to her but I don’t want to make her feel that because that will only boost her bitch attitude.” I almost whispered.
The place was peaceful and it feels like push my emotions to show. “Don’t be, Queen. You are our King’s wife and Queen.” Selene said but I smiled sadly. “That’s only a title, Selene.” ani ko. Umayos ako ng upo.
“Persephone was his first wife and first love.” I said para naman makuha nila ang gusto kong iparating. “So what if she’s his first love?” Hecate asked so I rolled my eyes on her.
“In short, may possibility na iwan ako ni Hades for her. Did you see my point?” I said to them. Napaisip naman si Selene. “Tama ka, Lavender.” sang-ayon ni Hecate sa idea ko kaya nakaramdam ako ng lungkot. “Pero sa tingin ko hindi na mangyayari kung ano man ang nasa isip mo. Dahil hindi ganon ang hari.” sabi niya kaya napaiwas ako ng tingin.
I admit I’m being unreasonable this time.
“But Persephone is a bitch, Hecate. She gets what she wants.” saad ni Selene na ikinakaba ko naman. Hades never said he loves me. “His actions, Lavender. Based his feelings from his actions towards you.” sabi ni Hecate sa akin. “Ang daming what ifs sa utak ko.” iyon na lang ang naisatinig ko.
“Let me ask you, sa narinig mo galing kay Persephone, hindi naman nag-iba ang pakiramdam mo para sa Hari diba?” Hecate asked me. I shook my head. “Never. Instead I love him even more.” I stated so she nodded and smiled confidently. “Then fight for it. Ikaw ang mas may alas, Lavender. Reyna ka ng kaharian niya, asawa ka niya at may anak na kayo. Si Persephone? She’s just sprinkle from his past. Don’t get bothered by her words. Tandaan mo, Lavender. May lamang ka.” Hecate said.
She motivated my feelings.
Nagpalipas lang kami ng ilang sandali du’n at napagpasyahan na namin na bumalik sa palasyo. Napataas ang isang kilay ko nung natanawan ko si Demeter na nagmamadaling pumasok sa loob kaya sumunod na rin kami.
Nalaglag ang aking panga sa nakita ko.
