Chapter 13: The Kage Summit
Location: Land of Rivers
Team Taka jumped across the many trees trying to fulfill their own missions after trying to leave the Akatsuki. Before they could move any further, a swirl of chakra appeared in front of them making them stop in their tracks.
What the… Karin thought as she narrowed her eyes at Madara who has just arrived. I didn’t even sense his chakra.
“And where do you think you four are going?” Madara crossed his arms across his chest in questioning. Sasuke narrowed his eyes, “We’re done with the Akatsuki; we did your job for you capturing that beast.”
“Unfortunately you failed that mission,” Madara informed, “However, I have another mission for you that must complete.”
“And what if we don’t?” Sasuke glared at the man in front of him.
“You should know the consequences of betraying the Akatsuki. You will be undoubtedly killed,” Madara smirked, “Having said that if you do, you won’t be able to get to the Hidden Leaf… well there’s not much left anyways.”
“What do you mean?” Sasuke raised an eyebrow making Madara chuckle, “The Village Hidden in the Leaves is no more,” he said as Sasuke’s eyes widened.
“W-What happened?” Karin muttered as she adjusted her glasses. At that moment, Zetsu appeared next to Madara encased in his cocoon type trap.
“You aloe plant again…” Suigetsu wrinkled his nose at him, making Zetsu glare in return.
“So? Who’s the new Hokage?” Madara asked.
“It’s that guy, Danzo.” Zetsu informed as Madara nodded, “It’s just as I thought.” He said.
“Danzo?!” Sasuke exclaimed, “He’s Hokage now?”
“Yes, one of the high ranking elders of the Leaf Village who backed your brother up into a corner,” Madara looked at Sasuke from the corner of his eye, “That’s the man who has become Hokage.”
Sasuke turned to look at the plant-like man next to Madara, “Just what the hell happened in Konoha?”
“My associate, Pein, destroyed it during the fight with the jinchūriki. With you and Pein going off like that, it seems the Five Kage are taking action.” Madara explained.
“The Five Kage?” Sasuke muttered.
“They’re convening a summit conference,” Madara turned to Zetsu to let him explain the situation.
