Chapter 20

Song for this Chapter: Cardiac Arrest by Bad Suns

Riley's Point of View

I woke up, a sense of relief settling in my chest.

It was finally Saturday, no school.

Smiling to myself, I looked to the clock to see it was already noon.

I picked up my phone off the nightstand.

300 message notifications from Instagram.

"Just great." I mumbled to myself.

Opening the app, I began to read through the comments.

"omg she is so fat! Repulsive!"

"Disgusting."

"Nasty."

"Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew"

"You should just drop dead!"

"Go die!"

"The world would be better off without you!"

"Your too disgusting to live. Go die in a hole somewhere."

"I can't believe Oscar chose you. So gross."

"You look like your five."

"Ew."

"I can't even, your so hideous."

"(A girl used the bad word starting with a W)"

"(A girl used the B word)"

"(A girl used the S word)"

"LITERALLY GO DIE THE WORLD WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU."

Those were just some of the many hate comments I received. Scanning through the rest, more than 50% of them were girls calling me fat.

Lifting the comforter off my legs, I realized that maybe I could loose a little weight.

Missing one day of eating wouldn't kill me I guess. It'll do me good.

I shut my phone off and placed my feet to the carpeted floor.

Making my way to the kitchen, I saw a sticky note taped to the sterling silver fridge.

Riley, we had a meeting to go to and we didn't want to wake you. Be back by 12:15 :) ~Ogge

I guess they'll be back in fifteen minutes. Grabbing a water bottle from the fridge, I plopped down on the couch and turned on the television.

My Sister's Keeper was on. Selecting that channel, I prepared myself for the tears.

Twenty minutes and a finished tissue box later, the boys waltzed through the front door.

"Hey Riles! We're back!" Ogge called, not realizing I was sitting on the couch.

They took off their coats, plopping them down on the floor of the entry way.

"Oh, hey Riles!" Omar said cheerily, plopping down next to me on the couch.

"Whatcha' watchin?"

"A cancer movie."

"Lovely, Riley, just lovely." He said sarcastically.

He got up from the couch, walking in the direction of the game room.

"Where are you going?" I inquired.
