It was strange to know her mother talked to him often, that she was fond of the boy her daughter had fallen for at sixteen. “Chl coffee pr chlte hai.” She loved it when he didn't asked yet ordered her. She was feeling that they still are together. She was feeling hope that things could goo back too they were or somethings never change.
She glances back at Alvira, who rolls her eyes. “Go! I’ll lock up, babe!” Her friends grins. “And please CCD me mat le jaana usko!” She points a finger.
“Alvira CCD acha hai!” Shehnaaz argues, gathering her jacket from behind the counter.
“My foot! ” Alvira grumbles, hopping off the counter.
“Tu uski baat mat sun usko lagta hai ki CCD me negative energy hai." She tells Sidharth.
“I’m telling you, someone was murdered there!” Alvira calls out as they exit the bookshop, the door closing behind them, as Shehnaaz laughs softly.
“Shehnaaz sahi bol rhi hai." Sidharth says with a small smile.

After three years of hearing nothing from him, sitting in front of him in a coffee shop is, at the very least, daunting. She often wondered what it’d be like and now that she’s here, she feels overwhelmed. How do you talk to someone you’ve loved for years? How do you talk to a person you hurt? Someone who knows your deepest darkest secrets?
“We can talk.” Sidharth smiles softly, taking a sip of his coffee. “Main teko jaanta hu Shehnaaz... Yeh main.. hum hai...hume pretend krne ki zarurat nhi hai.” He breathes out. “It’s still you and me, right? Ase sb change toh nhi ho gaya na?”
“Thoda change hua hai.” Shehnaaz frowns. “Sorry. Voh just main shocked hun tujhe dekh kr. Dimag mera bol rha tha ki main tujhe kbhi nhi dekhungi. But dil bolta tha ki hope kr, pray kr aaega tu vps. But har raat dimag jeet jaata tha. Or abhi be asa ho skta hai tu meko khali 'goodbye for life Shehnaaz-"
“Stop.” He grabs her hand and she stills, eyes on his. “ Teko pata hai main har din tere baare me sochta tha.. har din Shehnaaz. Meko tujhse milne ka bhot dil kiya or meko mujhpr vishwas tha ki main tujhe jldi milunga."
Shehnaaz shakes her head. “Sidharth tuhi hai mere liye, but tu meko apni jaga pr rkh kr denh. Main fuck up kiyaa itnaa zada mujhe voh time be feel nhi hua tha.” She confesses, letting out a soft laugh, as she looks down at her hands. “And that’s okay. Atleast main ab honest rhe skti hu. Teko pata hai meri therapist bolti hai ki yeh positive sign hai.”
His gaze softens. “Tu therapist ke pass jati hai?" He questions.
She nods, his gaze making her feel like a teenager all over again. “ Meko need thi. And meri bhot help be hue hai."
“That’s good.” He smiles. “That’s really good, Shehnaaz.”
Smiling back, she leans forward. “Tu kaha tha itna timer? Kaala lg rha thoda sa."
He laughs. “LA, phele.Uske baad ek job opportunity aae Italy me. Main vaha organic farming krta tha. Haa pata h ajeeb hai sunne me but sahi hai ekdum relaxing. Or free time me main thoda bhot likhta tha. Vaha ke log kaafi sahi hai." He pauses, chuckling at her shocked faced. “Teko bhot pasand aati jagaa.”
“Lo uthe jaakr be kheto main kaam kiya isse acha Punjab chala jata vahaa ke khet dekhe hai tune hayee itne badeee hote hai."
"Baby- I mean Shehnaaz voh organic farming alag hoti hai. Voh bhot professional hoti hai." Sidharth laughs.
"Acha chl chod yeh bata tune soul searching vagera ki ?"
“Haan bhot zada.” He nods. “Bhot kuch sikha vaha maine. Mere baare me or meko kya Krna hai life me or mujhe kya chahiye."
“Phir kya pata chala?”
“It’s process.” He shrugs with a soft smile, taking a sip of his coffee. “Haaa phele Italy den phir vps LA. Tu kyaa kr rhi hai yaha. Or Kasia hai New York?"
"New York bhot beautiful hai. Or main yaha just collage yeh job. Abhi main yaha FBI join krne ka soch rhi hun. Meko abhi PI ka license hai."
"Really."
