Chapter 31: Accident

2 WEEKS LATER

"I like your jacket." Jessica says, watching me put it on.

"You do?" I smile.

She nods.

"I like the rips in it."

"How about me and you go shopping, and I'll buy you one just like mine?"

"Really?!" Her eyes light up and she smiles widely.

"Yeah. We'll have a girls day out."

"Can we go after school?"

"You have arts and crafts after school."

"Oh yeah." She frowns.

"We can go shopping Saturday, and then we'll have all day to look at clothes. Maybe I'll get us a McDonalds too." I smirk.

"Yeah!" Jessie jumps up and down.

I laugh and open the front door.

"Let's go."

I take Jessie to school and then come back to do some house cleaning.

I just finish putting a wash on when I hear the doorbell ring. I make my way over to the front door and open it.

"Hey!" Jack smiles.

"Jack, you know you're not supposed to be here." I raise my eyebrows.

"Nice to see you too." He smirks. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna come in."

"Good, because I wasn't going to let you."

He rolls his eyes and chuckles.

"It's my day off. I thought me and you could do something."

"Oh, like what?"

"I don't know? Anything! Cinema? Get a KFC? Starbucks? Go for a drive?"

"Can we do all of them?" I smile.

"If you want to." He grins.

"I was going to see my mom... she hasn't been feeling great."

"I bet you saw her yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that." He gives me a look.

"Well... yeah..."

"She has someone looking after her Ness. She'll be fine."

"I know." I sigh.

"Sooo, let's go!"

"Alright." I smile. "Let me just finish what I was doing and I'll be right out."

"Ok." He says walking towards his car. "But if you're not out in the next 5 minutes, I'm going."

I roll my eyes and shut the door.

I eat a piece of chicken, watching Jack scroll through his phone.

"Ugh, there's nothing on at the cinema. All the movies sound shit." He frowns.

"Mmm, there's never anything good out."

"What shall we do then?" He makes a face.

"I don't know? We can get a Starbucks and go for a drive?"

"Mmm." He nods, eating his chicken.

He stares at me and starts smirking.

"What?" I lower my eyebrows and laugh.

"I was expecting to see a glow to you today. An after sex glow."

I roll my eyes and sip my drink.
