39

I groaned as the light hit my eyes. My room didn't get this bright in the morning; why was today so sunny? It felt like there was a rock on my stomach; wait a minute. I slowly opened my eyes, the events of yesterday resurfacing. Lifting my head the tiniest bit, I see the face of Zayn merely inches away, half of his head on my pillow, a strand of my hair on his forehead. His arm sprawled over me; this was way too cliche.

I didn't know what to do; his arms were too heavy, I couldn't get up. So I just laid there staring at the ceiling. It was minutes later when Zayn started to mumble stuff in his sleep,

"Zayn?" I whispered,

"Ammu" He whispered, I called his name again, no response he kept mumbling "Ammu."

"Zayn wake up you're dreaming" I said a little louder,

His eyes abruptly opened up, and he jumped out of bed like something had stung him; I slowly got up, sitting criss-cross while he stood in front of the bed running a hand through his hair,

"Are you okay?" I quietly asked; his eyes were red and swollen; how did I not notice that before?

He looked at me like he was trying to figure something out, "I'm fine, sorry for waking you," He said, laying back down on the bed and grabbing his phone. I laid back down, turning to the opposite side, so I was facing the closet - and not him.

"Is it Fajr?" I asked,

"Yes" He said still not making a move to get up.

Silence was the only thing in the room, curiosity bubbled in me,

"Do you want to talk about what happened" I asked, eyes still closed

He took a second and sighed, "No not really"

"That's okay" I said cuddling into the pillow,

There was silence for a while; it was a comfortable silence, though. I could feel his eyes on me, but I kept my eyes closed, trying to stop blushing. We were both so comfortable, we just laid there.

"Do you want to pray together?" He asked, I hummed in response,

"Are you going to get up?" He asked amused,

"You go first" I said slowly, he chuckled but made no move to get up,

"I don't want too" He whined, snuggling closer into the pillow; I peeked an eye open, finding his eyes right on me,

"You have a staring problem" I said shutting me eyes,

He laughed, "Only for you" He said getting out of bed, leaving me to sit there shocked.

"How did you sleep?" Nani asked as I rolled out some rotis. The tone in her voice made me blush - like she expected something to happen, although nothing of that sorts happened.

"Alhamdulillah, it was good," I said. I had come down right after Fajr, after Zayn had fallen asleep, to get started on breakfast. I knew once Asma Aunty was awake, she wouldn't let me do anything. I didn't expect to find Nani in the living room doing Dhikr, but she did give some good company. As I continued making the breakfast eventually, everyone had come down,

"Saima, Habibti, why did you go through all of this work?" Asma Aunty said as she took a seat,

"It's nothing, Aunty, don't even worry about it," I said, walking into the kitchen grabbing some plates; meanwhile, Zayn was grabbing the table mats,
