After everyone had left, Zayn and I went on our real Honeymoon in Turkey! It was such a beautiful trip. We spent our days in the deserts, exploring every inch of beautiful Istanbul. We went to different Mosques, beaches and did lots of shopping in the Bazaars. Without a doubt, Zayn and I had gotten a lot closer. From seeing each other all grumpy during travel to me seeing his very through hair routine. After the spill of secrets on our Walima night, nothing was between us, and our relationship was better than ever. I noticed after him finding out about my Eating Disorder that he paid a lot more attention to me when I ate and would randomly call me beautiful and such more than he did before. It was sometimes overbearing, but I didn't mind. He was simply caring for me, just like how I was with his nightmares and his carelessness to take the medications for his nightmares. We had grown to love each other in the short time we had been together, but the love was as strong as could be.
But alas, our Honeymoon was over, and it was now time to adjust to everyday life. Zayn had taken an extra day off, but I still had work. Right after Fajr, I stealthily got ready, trying not to wake up my sleeping beauty, and headed out for the day.
"Saima, you've been asked to represent this huge international client," Emilia said, squealing into my office. I lifted my head from the papers and contracts I was reading, grateful for the distraction.
"Me? But I don't even know if I passed the BAR yet," Taking a sip of my coffee, as flattering as that was, I still didn't know if I was even a proper lawyer yet.
Emilia brushed it off, "That's nothing, but you need to take this case it'll be amazing for this firm" She said, dropping a file on my desk and heading out.
I opened up the file and began to read
MAHMUD ALI - DUBAI
CHARGED WITH TWO FIRST DEGREE MURDER CHARGES
I gasped as I kept reading, it couldn't be.
... Beat his wife and daughter to death
I kept reading and reading hoping this was anyone but him, but once I finished I noticed there was a couple of pictures held on loosely by a paper clip.
The first one was I'm his Mugshot. His eyes were cold and dark, his face was bruised, and he had a faint smile on his face. It was disgusting. Besides the evil on his face, his resemblance to Zayn was uncanny. I looked at the next one, a family photo. The four of them all lined up, a smile plastered on each of their faces. As I looked closer at their faces, all I could see was discomfort. I could faintly even see a pained expression on Zayn's mother's face, as her husband had an arm tightly around her.
The next pictures were pictures at the crime scene, which I quickly tucked away, not needing to see the gruesome images. I couldn't believe it; how was I supposed to defend him in court? My father in law the same one who took away my husband's mother and sister; how was I supposed to do it? I concluded I wouldn't. I could not; no matter how amazing it made the firm or how well the pay was, I simply couldn't.
I quickly wrote my boss an email stating I could not take this case, and I'm sure someone else in the firm would gladly represent him. I got a response that I should deeply consider and that Zayn's father specifically wanted me. Which made me wonder if he knew I was married to his son; he had to, right? Or why else would he want me? Was this all to hurt Zayn?
