Assassin's POV:

I was in the middle of some paperwork when I got a text with a picture. It was of a frightened man with a knife against his throat.

Unknown: This is Dante. Here's some target practice for the new blood.

I chuckled as I read the text. I couldn't help but wonder what the poor bastard had done to end up on Dante's hit list. I quickly sent him a text confirming the hit before sending the information to one of the new blood. I saved Dante's number on my phone under the name Spicy Pasta <3.

I frowned when I looked at the man: Steven Lowenski. Anger flared when I noticed Axel's name on a recent domestic violence report along with documentation that he was married with two children. Not only was he abusing Axel but he was living a double life with a wife and children. I smiled knowing that he won't be alive for long. I wanted to kill him myself for what he had done to the one who had saved my life but I could only be satisfied that he would be dead.

A knock at my door caught my attention.

"Come in."

Yuki, a ten-year-old little girl,  opened the door and peeked her small head into the room. She was the best of the child assassins and obsessed with cute things. Everyone assassin had their own way of coping with the trauma, her's is plushies and anything she deems cute.

She walked in with a teddy bear in her hands. She bounced on her toes and hid the bear behind her back.

"So do we still need to follow the med student around?" She tilted her head.

I shook my head causing her to frown.

"He should be fine now that he's with the Romani family."

"I wanted to see him at least once. The others were saying that he's super cute." She pouted as she crossed her arms under her chest. I chuckled.

"Maybe you can meet him another time." She groaned before leaving the room, slamming the door behind her. I shook my head and chuckled. She's one of the few that I raised from pretty much a baby and she viewed me as her older brother.
I turned my attention back to work and noticed an assassination request for Dante. I laughed and immediately declined the request. Spicy Pasta is now off-limits for assassination requests. I noticed another request for a government official. I read through the report.

There were already a few failed assassination attempts from the Ripper, an assassin with almost skill on par with mine. I frowned as I thought about how to go about the assassination before deciding to decline it. I was hit with a small-caliber round so the hole is small and the damage is minimal, but the stitches would rip during the escape. The amount of security was too high to go in injured.

I groaned.

"He was a damn good shot. Why did they have to be doing that deal when I was making my getaway?"

I paused as I remember what he looked like. He looked like Dante but younger and smaller. I sighed as I realized that one of the Romani twins shot me. I just had to cross one of Dante's younger brothers. It makes sense as to why he was so good with a pistol. He managed to hit a moving target dressed in black in the dark. If he wasn't a part of the Romani family I would have recruited him.

I shrugged before going back to paperwork. After a few hours, I groaned and laid my head on my desk.

"I fucking hate paperwork... I wanna train or kill but I can't... I gotta be cooped up in this god-forsaken office. I know you're there Renji."

"Someone has to keep you from re-opening your wounds. We all know you heal fast but this is still going to take a few weeks to heal."

I stuck my tongue out at him and glared. He sighed.

"You might be able to light cardio." I sat up and looked at him excitedly.

"You mean I can walk on the treadmill?" I asked, slightly hopeful that I could stay mobile. He nodded.

"But no running."

"I said walk, didn't I?"

"Yes but your definition of walk tends to be jogging or running for normal people." I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"I'm going to the gym." I stood and walked to the building's gym and started walking on a treadmill. I was used to high-impact workouts so just walking left me feeling restless, but it was better than sitting still. After two hours on the treadmill, I got a text from the new blood confirming the completion of the hit.

I quickly texted Dante and let him know that Steven was dead. One less threat to Axel, but the major one was off-grid and moving in silence. It was frustrating and confusing how they were able to hide so well. They couldn't even properly dispose of the trail of abuse towards Axel. The hospital records were still easy to find with a deep search. Who was backing them and why?

"Boss?" Renji asked as I stared at my phone in thought.

"Something isn't adding up... The short stack that saved me is being chased by his death cult leader father who can't even hide hospital records but is hiding so off-grid that we can't find anything on him. Someone has to be helping him, but who?"

Renji tilted his head before nodding.

"You're right... I did get reports that the Archangels of God are rampant with drug use, specifically LSD and shrooms, but I couldn't get any info on the dealer."

"Shit. If we could get the dealer we could crush that damn cult. Just keep an eye out for any information that might come up. When we get the chance we'll wipe them off the face of the earth. I don't care how many countries we have to travel to but all branches will be annihilated." Renji bowed before leaving.

I spent the next few hours walking on the treadmill lost in thought trying to find any way to get more information on the cult and Axel. I turned off the treadmill and walked to the living quarters after deciding that I would need to be patient and wait for the enemy to slip up. Everyone makes mistakes and when they do we'll swoop in and wipe them out.

I ran into Yuki in the hallway. She shoved a pink teddy bear into my arms. It was her favorite plushie, one she never shared.

"Why?" I asked with squinted eyes.

"Pinkie Pie helps me when my thoughts are jumbled and your thoughts are jumbled so maybe Pinkie Pie might help you..." She swayed side to side and glanced up at me. I couldn't help but smile. I handed her back the plushie.

"Thank you. My thoughts are a lot clearer now." I ruffled her hair. I hated having child assassins and putting them through the trauma of murder but if it wasn't for the Shadow Clan many of them would be dead on the streets. I know I would have died if Master wouldn't have picked me up.
"I'm always here for you even if you don't let me meet the cute man." I chuckled before I picked her up and hugged her before shaking her side to side making her legs swing. She giggled before I put her back down.

"I'll let you meet him when I can. Okay?"

She nodded before skipping down the hallway. I shook my head before walking to my room. I washed up and plopped down on my bed. I groaned after a sharp pain reminded me that I was still injured. I sighed before taking a pain pill. I laid down and waited for the medicine to kick in.
