Chaemin's POV

Why are airports so confusing?

I sigh and look around at all of the desks, doors, walls, rooms - HOW DO AIRPORTS EVEN WORK?

After walking around for a little, I finally find a place where I can check in. I think I'm going on the Korean Air thingy. When I'm checking in my luggage and myself, I make sure to ask the worker for directions.

"It's my first time in an airport," I admit with a laugh. The worker gives me directions, and I finally figure out where I'm supposed to board.

I make it to the boarding area a few minutes before it's time to board. Thankfully, the plane hasn't taken off yet.

I immediately sit down and try to get my stuff sorted out before I board. I just put all the important stuff, like my phone, wallet, and passport in a small pocket in my backpack, and take out my plane ticket.

When I'm finally done, the announcement comes that we have to board. I stand up, make sure that I have everything, and get in line to board.

When I show the worker my ticket, she scans it and I go down the long tunnel. There are so many airplanes - and it's really loud, too, probably because of the plane.

Then I finally get to the end of the tunnel, and show the flight attendant my ticket, and she directs me towards... the BUSINESS CLASS?

"Uh, I think there must be some mistake," I say, a little confused.

"I believe your ticket says that you are in first class," she answers, smiling and directing me towards the front of the airplane. Surprised, I find what's apparently my seat and slide in.

As soon as I sit down, I find my phone to text my parents. Apparently though, they texted me first.

Mom
Did you like the surprise?

Me
You mean the ticket?

Dad
You're very welcome

Me
Thank you!

Dad
The plane flight will be long

Mom
We wanted you to be comfortable

Me
Thanks

Mom
You're welcome ❤️

MeThe plane's taking off, bye!

I put away my phone, because I'm pretty sure that you're not supposed to text on a plane.

A few minutes later, someone slides into the seat near me. I look over and see a guy with a black cap and mask hiding his face. His blue hair is peeking out from under the cap.

I wonder why he's wearing a mask and a cap. Maybe he's sick? And at the same time afraid of the sun? I have no idea. Maybe he just wants to hide his face or something.

"Hi," I say to him, trying to be friendly. He glances over and nods in my direction. His eyes are so pretty - Wait, what am I even saying?

A safety video starts playing on the screen in front of me. Is that SuperM? Wait a second, I've seen this video before, on YouTube. Dude, that's Mark! AND TAEYONG, MY BIAS! I've already pretty much memorized this video. If Mark tells me to enjoy my flight, I had better enjoy my flight.

The guy next to me is mouthing Taeyong's part. Maybe he's an NCTzen too. Who knows. He probably wouldn't answer my question if I asked him.

Soon, the plane starts moving. Is this how it feels to ride in an airplane? It's so shaky right now. I hope it gets better.

When the plane goes into the air, I grip the armrests of my seat. My stomach is doing flips right now. I swallow and try to stay calm.

I glance over at the guy next to me, trying to see how he's reacting to the plane taking off. To my surprise, he's sitting there in his seat, looking unbothered - maybe even a little bit bored. How many times has this guy gone on a plane to be this calm?

The plane finally steadies out. I look out the window and see a beautiful view - the busy highways and buildings of New York City seem so small. I mentally say goodbye to New York, thinking about all the happy memories I've had there.

I glance over at the guy again, still curious about him. He's put in his AirPods now, probably listening to music.

After about an hour, I get bored of looking out the window and appreciating the clouds that float by underneath us. I sigh, realizing that there's still 13 more hours to go.

Bored, I look over at the guy again. "So, is this your first time on an airplane?" I ask, trying to start a conversation. He looks at me, takes out his AirPod, and shakes his head, before putting it back in his ear. Well, that went well, didn't it? What is with this dude?

I shake my head and stare at the screen thingy in front of me, trying to figure out how to use it. When I tap on it, it lights up. I look through the stuff on it - it's all pretty boring. The only thing I'm interested in is the thing that tracks where the plane is - very far away from Korea.

I can only sit here and try to enjoy my flight.
