"I'm hungry." Jessie announced. "We need to stop at Burger King right now."
I gave her a strange look. "What? No!"
"But we have to." Jessie argued. "I'm hungry."
"It's only been an hour and a half since we left your apartment." I reasoned.
"That doesn't change the fact that I'm hungry."
I sighed. "Jessie, I'm the kidnapper. I say what happens."
Jessie scoffed. "Please. You may have knocked me out and everything but if I actually wanted out of this, I would be by now." She leaned back and put her arms behind her head. "Now let's go to Burger King."
"No." I turned the wheel slightly to avoid a semi being stupid.
"Why?"
"Because I said so."
Jessie crossed her arms. "I get cranky when I'm hungry." She threatened.
"I have more chloroform." I answered calmly. "I'm not feeding you."
"why not?"
"Because I don't want to." I hit the wheel slightly. "Will you shut up? It's actually not that hard to seal your lips together for two minutes."
Jessie was silent for twenty seconds. Yes I counted.
"You're rude." She told me finally.
I threw my hands up for a second. "Thank you for stating the obvious. Why am I hearing your voice again?"
"Because you feel bad about strangling me and you don't have the guts to make me breath chloroform again."
At that I yanked the wheel to the side and parked on the side of the road. I turned to look at her and for the first time I saw Jessie looking nervous. I leaned over a little bit so we were face to face and her eyes gave away a flash of fear. "You don't know me." I growled. "You don't know the amount of guts I have. And I wouldn't count on the amount of humanity you think I have because it's starting to wear thin. I will do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals and continue living. You got that?"
Jessie stared at me, her face set in a hard scowl.
I grabbed her wrist to emphasize my point. "You got that?" I repeated.
Jessie took a sharp intake of breath. "Got it." She said through gritted teeth.
I let go and put my hands back on the wheel. "Good." I put the truck back on the road and we drove for a few minutes in silence before she broke it for the millionth time.
"Go to hell." She whispered to me.
I managed to crack a grin. "Oh I did Shorty, and now I'm back, so I'd suggest doing what I say."Sorry it's so short.
