Montana was active in the later part of WWII then after the war he was to be unceremoniously scrapped. But fate intervened and he was spared by being sent to another world to fight aliens known as sirens. How will he react to being the only male bat...
A/N: this takes place after the attacks on the Azur Lane base and Hornet's fleet. And Montana was to be scrapped in 1961. I modified his armament specs for his main guns. The song above is his theme song
I come to on a hard wooden surface. Getting up I notice that I'm standing on...me? I'm a human like the brave men who served on me in the later part of the war, but yet I'm also still a ship. I then hear from behind me, "Unidentified ship, you are in Azur Lane waters, state your name and allegiance or be sunk!" Turning around I see several ships. I notice that they are all female. One looks like she has a miniature flight deck of an aircraft carrier on her hip, another looks like she has the turrets of a North Carolina class battleship, the third looks like a light cruiser in a maid outfit and the other two look like destroyers. I respond " I'm USS Montana,BB-67 of the United States Navy. By the way none of your weaponry will hurt me. I was designed to take on the Yamato class battleships and come out on top!" At that all of them look scared and confused. The aircraft carrier asks "United States, do you mean Eagle Union?" I shrug "Probably, now that you ladies know who I am, may I have the pleasure of knowing you?" The ship girls jump up onto my deck, then the aircraft carrier girl says "my name is Enterprise of Eagle Union." My eyes open wide, " As in CV-6 USS Enterprise, the Grey Ghost the hero ship of the pacific?" She looks shocked as she stammers out "Y.....yes" I respond "It's an honor to meet you in person." She blushes as the second girl speaks up, "Did you say that you're a battleship?" I nod "Yes the first and only one in my class, sadly my sister ships were never built." She responds "I'm sorry to hear that, I'm BB-55, better known as...." " North Carolina, nicknamed the Show Boat, 15 battle stars and present at almost every single major battle during the Pacific campaign, it's nice to see finally meet you, big sister" Her jaw drops as I finish speaking. "Technically wouldn't you be my big brother because of your size?" she asks. I shrug, "I don't know." I turn and look at the maid "Two questions, who are you and why are you dressed like a maid?" She speaks with a British accent, "Mister Montana, I'm Belfast, the second ship of the Edinburg class of light cruisers of Royal Navy. I'm dressed like this because I'm a maid serving Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth." I nod, "I'm guessing that when we get to where ever we need to go, Her Majesty will want to meet me?" She nods. I turn to the other two ships, and "You two are obviously destroyers but I'd like to know your names." The first one looks at me and says also with a British accent "I'm Javelin of Royal Navy" I nod and turn to the final ship, who look like she's about to fall overboard because of the lack of sleep. She speaks sleepily "I'm Laffey of Eagle Union" My eyes open wide again, "You're DD-724, the ship that would not die, you supported the landings at Utah beach during the D-Day landings and survived the horrors of the Kamikaze attacks at Okinawa!!!" She looks startled and bashful. I turn back to Enterprise, "do you mind giving me the coordinates to your base?" She nods and heads to my bridge to set a course, I turn to the others, "there's bunks inside if you ladies want to sleep." Belfast respond "That won't be necessary, I'll be with Lady Enterprise" I nod in confirmation, I turn to look at NC, Laffey and Javelin. But the moment I said bunks Javelin and Laffey disappeared, leaving NC alone with me. She nervously asks me "Why do you seem relieved that you're here instead of your normal world?" I look out at the ocean, and respond with a hint of sadness, " When I appeared here, I was on my way to the scrapper, after the war, a lot of the ships that weren't needed were to be scrapped." She looks sad, and then asks "What happened to me in your universe?" I look at her " The state you're named after held a statewide fundraiser and the year before I was to be towed to scrapper, the state of North Carolina purchased you and made you a museum and memorial to all North Carolinians who died during the war." She perks up with a smile, and I state " You better live up to the nickname they give North Carolinians." She says "What nickname is that?" I turn to head up to my bridge. I look over my shoulder, smiling and state "Tar Heel, because in a fight in an other war, a general mentioned that even when given the order to retreat, any men from North Carolina would stay put like they had tar on their heels." She stands at attention, saluting me "I won't let you down, little brother!!" We head to my bridge where Enterprise and Belfast are. Enterprise looks at me and says "We should be arriving at the base in about 2 hours" I nod and take a seat in the captain's chair. Belfast looks at me, "Mister Montana, may I ask what your specifications are?" I nod and state "Well I'm 70,965 long tons with a full load. My length is 921 ft 3 in, my beam and draft are 121 ft 2 in and 36 ft 0 in respectively. My powerplants are 8 × Babcock & Wilcox 2-drum express type boilers powering 4 sets of Westinghouse geared steam turbines 4 × 43,000 hp – 172,000 hp total power. My speed is 28 kn (32 mph; 52 km/h) maximum. My range is 15,000 nmi (17,300 mi; 27,800 km) at 15 kn (17 mph; 28 km/h). My armament is 12 × 18.5-inch (469mm)/60 cal Mk 9 guns, 20 × 5-inch (127 mm)/54 cal Mark 16 guns, 10–40 × Bofors 40 mm anti-aircraft guns, 56 × Oerlikon 20 mm anti-aircraft cannons. My armor is as follows: Main belt: 16.1 inches (409 mm) inclined 19° Lower belt: 7.2–8.5 inches (183–216 mm) inclined 10° Bulkheads: 18 inches (457 mm) forward, 15.25 inches (387 mm) aft Barbettes: 21.3 inches (541 mm), 18 inches (457 mm) aft Turret face: 22.5 inches (572 mm) Decks: 2.25 inches (57 mm), 7.05–7.35 inches (179–187 mm), 0.63–1 inch (16–25 mm) Aircraft carried: 3–4 × Vought OS2U Kingfisher Aviation facilities: 2 × aft catapults for launch of seaplanes." Belfast, Enterprise, and NC look at me in amazement, before NC speaks up "You're powerful, the Red Axis doesn't stand a chance against you!!!" I give her a puzzled look, "Red Axis? That sounds like the two main enemies that my nation was fighting back in my world." Belfast speaks up, "The Red Axis is made up of Sakura Empire and Ironblood" I respond "Ironblood sounds like the Germans from my time while Sakura Empire sounds like the Japanese from my time also. I hope I can get to finally have a fight with Yamato and Bismarck." All three girls look at me in shock "Why would you want to fight them?" shouts Enterprise. I grin like a mad man "I'm going to guess that they boast that they're the most powerful battleships, I'm going to prove to them that a male outsider battleship is stronger, plus if you think about it, if I can beat the two most powerful battleships of the Crimson Axis, it would cause them to realize that rejoining Azur Lane is the only viable option to fight the sirens." Belfast nods " that makes sense, a little. But I feel that there's something else going on with the Sakura Empire." Enterprise speaks up, "We're about to enter Azur Lane's port" I nod and sit back in my chair, while picking up the hand mike for the ships PA system, activating it I call out "Laffey and Javelin, please report to the top deck, we're about to dock." I look out at the dock and notice a lot more ship girls waiting and watching as I dock. As we disembark, Enterprise, Belfast, NC, Laffey and Javelin deactivate their gears. Apparently I'm able to do that but I'll have to test it out later. Right now I'm getting swarmed by all the girls on the dock. It's making me nervous enough that I accidentally activate my gear.

As the girls back up, I take a look at my gear, which looks pretty cool. I look at Belfast and Enterprise, asking "Umm, how do I deactivate my gear?" Both grin and giggle, then a blonde girl wearing a cowboy hat says, " Just think of your ship and it'll return, by the way I'm Hornet the...." I cut in like I did to NC, " third ship of the Yorktown class aircraft carriers and the carrier from which Colonel Jimmy Doolittle launched his famous raid on the Japanese home islands." She blushes, saying "you sure know what you're talking about" I scratch my head, nervously "well when you're the last battleship and tasked with minor combat, you kinda pick up the habits of your sailors." When I said battleship about 14 other girls push through crowd, I notice NC waving at them, I ask her, "Who are they?" She smirks and says "they're our sisters!!" At that I'm immediately swept off my feet and dragged away to a building by the fleet of battleship girls. One that looks like a Native American, speaks up "alright its time to introduce the family." I groan inwardly while muttering "I guess I'll need several notebooks so I can remember names", at this the girls all giggle.
