It's mid afternoon the sky remains blue but the clouds seem more on the grey side when it hits four o'clock. Mother's hands are placed relaxed on her lap; crossing her hands in making her black gloved fingers hide into each other. Her blonde hair it up in a French bun and her make up seems to make her appear more red on the cheeks then normal. Her partner Benjamin sit's across from her; He normal wears his grey suit and red tie every time I see him. I probably couldn't imagine him wear anything else other then these clothes. His short brown hair is parted to the side and pushed back with some sort of gel that makes his head shiny. My Mother does most of the talking during our coffees and our mud cake we share. Benjamin only made a few noises as if to say he was still there sipping on his dark long shot coffee. "We have news to tell you Peter" Benjamin speaks breaks the laughter between mother and I. He holds onto her gloved hands in her lap as they look at each with nervous but it goes away quickly smiling at me. "Where getting Married" Mothers voice sounded unsure at first but then she said it again in a cheerful tone. They've only been dating a year; and after my Father and her had divorced, I didn't think she would want to remarry. Its been three years since it had happened but considering they don't talk anymore I guess she'd had other plans in marrying Benjamin. It was perfectly shown in front of me that she didn't love him; not like she'd did; my Father. He was rich and could give her what she needed; despite that he didn't treat my mother right at times. Maybe that's why her hands and arms are covered up even though its hot out now. My throat goes slightly tight not letting a piece of the mud cake go down smoothly but hard and clunky. I cough in response pouring myself some water from the glass jar on the table into my empty glass. "Its really happening!" My voice sounds like its grunting but then goes back to normal towards the end. "Yes it is and Lisa will be coming with you of course " Mother takes a sip of her latte. I'd never told Mother that we'd broken up. She knew we were fighting and that she had issue's with her Mother. She never asked and so I never told her. "Well about that" She gives me an angry stare putting her coffee down onto the table as if to tell me what I'd done wrong. "Lisa ...and I; well things are complicated but I'll ask" Benjamin fixes his thick glasses pushing it up wards. "We heard about her mother" He rolls his shoulder back as if his waiting for my response but Mother did instead. "That poor girl, send me her love; she'll need something like this to cheer her up" I guess mother was right. Wedding do something to people. Either they break up or makes there relationships stronger; even though Lisa and I aren't in one. We could pretend for Mothers one big day and then I'd maybe tell her afterwards. I just hate disappointing my mother. It makes me feel like a jerk, I couldn't tell my mother and that made things worse between us. Father and I still talk; he'd known that Lisa and I broke up straight away; he'd taken me to counselling considering I had not been myself after high school had finished. I'd move into his place in a two bedroom apartment for four months basically eating my soul away and transforming on the full moons. It was always a blur to the memory. Mother feared I'd become like my father, no career just work a day job to pay the bills. So after the seven months of avoiding everyone, father helped me and here I am. Father always liked Mothers Plans but him doing it himself was another thing. Father is a great guy but he was not known to stick to plans. I think that was my problem I had it all planed out in high school but it all feel apart and I don't want to go back into that stage in my life again. Mother pulls me out off my hard thinking as she places a hand over mine. I give her what I'd felt was like a cheerful smile. "I'm so glad, Congrats!" I nod my head at Benjamin and back to Mother take the last sip of my coffee. "Thank you" Benjamin says placing a sliver box in front of me. "What is it?" I causally say. "We are three days late but it still counts, Happy Birthday Darling" She opens the box and a red bow tie sits in the box almost matching Benjamin's red tie. "Thanks" The sides of my mouth remains tight as Benjamin response with a nod finishing his black shot. I guess they'd want me to wear this to there wedding day. "So when's the big day?" I ask poking my fork into the mud cake that is almost finished "We were thinking in April" Mother says putting her hand up at the waiter who walks by her; she ask for the check and the waiter nods his head; walking away. That's in two months. "Isn't that to soon?" I ask regretting it straight after seeing her slight frown on her face. "Well we've decided to have a small one so its just a enough time" Mother touches Benjamin's face but he pulls it away and then give her a quick kiss on her palm. The waiter comes with the check as Benjamin pays for it, They drop me off at the University Campus car park. Mother gives me a longer hugs then necessary and Benjamin gives me a firm shake as always as we say our goodbyes. Mother waves out the window as they drive out onto the main road. I walk to the dorms that takes me ten minutes and refresh into new clothes as the air gets more chilly with the change of the weather. Lisa's ring still remains on the stink bench. The hurt is still real in my chest every time I look at it; Like a small pin jabbing my skin. "Fuck this" I say under my breath feeling my steps walk fast my wolf speed kicks in as I stand in front of Lisa's door room. The number reads thirty five. "What the fuck" My voice a little louder this time. I was about to knock but the door swings open with Fiona in her grey pajamas pants and white singlet with no bra on that I can see the out shape of her nipples but she covers her chest at the sight of me. "I'm a.." Don't apologize my thoughts scream out load. "Is Lisa here?" Get straight to the point good one you. Fiona's face is bare with no make up on her skin that her eyebrow look thinner then usual and her belly ring is on show but she pulls her shirt down to cover it. "No she just went out" Her voice is half dazed like I'd woken her up from a nap. "Do you know when she'll be back?" The ring is tight in my left palm that I could feel it warm up with the sweat that is starting get worse. "Hmm...why would I'd tell you that?" She lean on the door frame letting her long wavy hair fall down onto her right shoulder. "It's important" I pause. "Look just tell her that I'm not here to play her game; I've got better things to do" I push past her knocking her slightly. "Hey!" I place the ring on to her night stand to what looked like Lisa's side of the room with all emo cover band posters. At least that hadn't changed about Lisa. "I don't think what your doing is nice" Fiona's voice raises louder then mine before at the door. "Oh really? You have no idea; What did Lisa tell you that makes me the bad person in this.. hm?" Were standing face to face but I don't dare look into her eyes. The wall behind her has a photo of bunch of kids smiling; her younger self and a boy that is hugging her; his trying to kiss her on the cheek but it seems like she is pulling away from him laughing with the rest of the group. "She doesn't need too; I can judge for myself" her voice sounds bitter taking back I head out of the room and stop halfway looking back at her she remains there looking out the open door. "Judge all you want; fucking snob" I speak with anger that my insides feel like they are turning black as ink that one wrong stare from anyone I could rip out there throats. I didn't look back as I walk out in a rush down in the hallway but I get stopped by Max bumping into each other that knocks out the black anger away in a wave effect. "Max what up?" My voice comes out fast. Max's face is tense. "We should invite Fiona to one of our event?" Max's green eyes scans my body waiting for an answer. I just nod my head. "She has better things to do " I pause "She isn't alone" "What do you mean Pete?" I inhale pushing the door open to get outside. "What are you doing in the girls dorms anyway?" Max is always here in Hannah's dorm so its normal for him to be around here but me on the other hand that was a good question. I'd deiced to answer the first question instead. "She has a pack already I think" Max laughs nodding his head. "You think or you know?" I didn't really ask; I'd just assume. "Well ask her, maybe will found out then" I shrug my shoulders kind of getting over the subject of Fiona. "You think she's the alpha?" Hannah runs beside Max. Her long hair tied up in a messy bun and she is wearing light make up. "Do you always have to ears drop?" Max tickles her bare belly as she moves away from his hands. "I would doubt it" I say under my breath but clearly they both hear me. If she was an alpha we would of known by now. No alpha's are quite about it. "I'll see you both tomorrow at the game" I go to the library spending about two hours studying History and Mathematics through books and on my new laptop I got for myself as a birthday gift. My tummy twist at hunger around five o'clock as I order food order on my phone on an app called Uber Eats to my dorm number room. Hunter and Charlie enter at the same time as my food comes. Charlie grabs the bag of food off the guy looking inside the bag. "Oh Noodles!" He grabs the free bag of crab crakes and opens it, putting one into his mouth and sits on Hunters bed. I grab the bag off of him an place it onto my desk with all my things from the library. "Charlie and I are going to a gig, want to come?" Hunter pulls over a fresh red top over his head. Last minute invites is his thing that I'm still getting used too. I nod my head stuffing the noodles in my mouth that taste like Hokkien flavor with prawns that feel rubbery as my teeth bite down into them. "You guys enjoy your night out" I say through a full mouth of food. My phones buzzes on my desk as I turn around in my willy chair; Charlie puts the crab cracker bag next to it leaving the room with Hunter. It's a message from Lisa. "I didn't want the ring back" My chest felt like it feel into my noodle box but I look down at it and then at my phone screen it was just my Imagination. I type a sour sentence but then back space it. "I didn't expect it" I press send quick before I change my mind again. I take three fork mouthfuls before another text comes through from her. "Expect what?" I type fast and press said quickly trying not to regretting it. "Didn't expect us to end" I take a Crab Cracker biting into it. Nothing comes onto my screen for a few seconds so I send another one. "I miss you Lisa" I sound so foolish. I open a text book from the library reading the two lines in the paragraph before the phone buzzes again but it wasn't Lisa. "Leave Lisa alone" A message from Fiona. "Why?" My thumps shake slightly as I type in concern. The text message comes in quick; Fiona's words makes me feel guilty. "You just like to make Lisa hurt" I type back making sure I don't sound like a cunt of a guy then it looks like from her side. I back space the words I type and lock my phone screen.
