Nikel's POV.

I suddenly woke up. I expected to see my bunk in the Manhatten lodging house. But I didn't. All I saw was the endless blue sky staring at me. I was confused. I hadn't fallen asleep outside. If I had, I would be cold and I would have seen the large projection screen first. I looked around me. I saw that I was lying up against a brick wall. Leading out from the alleyway was a street. I got up reluctantly. I walked over to the sign. I got on my tip-toes. I could barely read what it said. Then I saw bright lights. I turned to face it. I saw the logo for the musical newsies. I was back home in New York. No Race. No newsie war. No Pages. No Medda or Spot. No Crutchie. I slumped down. It was all a fantasy. I was lost in the middle of New York City, without my family and I had woken up in an alley. "Where am I?" I heard a voice groan behind me. I turned on my heel to see my brother Remus waking up. I smiled. He wasn't a dream. I started to snicker. He looked at me and got up. He ran towards me and engulfed me in a hug. "Nikel- I- You ran off-  The fireworks started- The horses got scared- I got hit with a carriage-  Then I woke up- How are you here?" he spluttered. I looked at my brother. All the memories of life in reality came flushing back. "Remus there is no time for questions. We need to go home," I told him sharply. He looked me directly in the eye. He saluted and grabbed my arm. We started to sprint down the streets of New York to our small house. We finally arrived at our street. I started to pant. We had ran a long way. My attention was attracted to a space between two houses. It could fit a house in the middle of it. Remus ran over to the space. He picked something up and stared at it. Then he fell to his knees. I sprinted towards him. "Remus, what's wrong?" I urgently asked him. His blood-shot eyes looked up at me. He pointed at the house. That's when I realized, this was where our house used to be. We were the only survivors...
