He is Ghost

The Heat. It comes once a year sending their whole species into a whirlwind of aggression and chaos. It's a fight with teeth and claw, and death is sure to follow.

Death always follows her. It doesn't matter what she does when the heat hits. Males come running and then they fall. She has searched the continent looking for a male strong enough to keep her down, someone to stop the pain of the heat and avoid the mass of kills she always leaves at her back.

But she is running out of time. Females don't normally survive the heat on their own and every year it gets worse. No one thought she would survive the first on her own, and when the second one hit they thought she was dead for sure. And now year three is coming and she is losing faith in her ability to survive.

And when she does find refuge, something just isn't right.... There is something watching her from the forest, and suddenly, she finds death more inviting.
