The chapter *A process gone wrong* should be read before I'm sorry for the inconvenience

Avery’s POV

‘Can’t I just sleep without any form of interruption!!!’ I grumbled to myself as I opened the door; a part of me wasn’t surprised to see the person standing in front of me a little irritated.

‘Good morning mum’ I said as she stepped in.

‘It’s nice to see that you’re doing well without our support’ she said as she scanned the house.

‘It’s nice to see you too mum’ I said sarcastically

‘I guess you’re so grown up, you won’t bother to give your own mother a hug’ she smiled at me

I hurriedly went to hug her.

‘I missed you’ she said as we embraced

‘I missed you too’ I said

‘Then why don’t you visit? Your Dad misses you too you know?’ she said as she took a seat.

‘I don’t know, I’ll try my best to come this year’ I said

‘Great!’ she said

‘So how are things so far?’ she asked

‘They’re okay, a little stressful but I’m good’

‘You’re sure?’ she asked

‘I’m sure’

My mum and I have tried our best to bond with each other but there are certain things I still haven’t tried opening to her about out of fear.

‘So are you seeing any one?’ she asked

I was a little shocked at the question then laughed a little.

‘Aren’t you old and mature enough to start dating?’ she asked a little surprised at my reaction.

‘Yes I am but I’m a little surprised you asked that’ I said

‘Well you’re financially stable and independent so you’re obviously ripe for marriage’ she said defending her statement.

‘Well, I’m not seeing anyone at the moment and if I am I would make sure to tell you’ I said

‘Okay oh, you’re not getting any younger neither am I so you better hurry up because time won’t wait for anyone’ she said

‘Is there anything around to chew?’

‘I don’t have this time’ I said

‘Wow, no wonder you’ve lost weight and it shows we haven’t seen each other physically for a long time’

‘Now, can you please go and have your bath and let’s get ourselves something to eat’

‘Yes mummy’ I said as I went to my room

I hurriedly went to have my bath then wore a pair of blue jean shorts, a big blue T-shirt and a pairs of crocs to match.

‘I guess you’ll never outgrow wearing baggy shirts’ she said as we got into her Car.

We had brunch at an eatery and bought ourselves snacks. We got home and spent a lot of time talking.

‘We’re all staying at the Hilton hotels; Axel should already be there, Ayden and your Dad would meet us at the event and I’m here’.

‘Something tells me you didn’t just come here to chat with me’ I said

‘True but I’m a very busy woman and so are you so we don’t get a lot of opportunities to talk much less see each other’ she said

‘So both of us are getting ourselves ready right here and I hired a crew that would be here in 30 minutes so go and have another shower so you can be refreshed I’ll use the guest bathroom’

‘Oh okay, are you sure? We can swap bathrooms’ I suggested

‘It’s okay I’ll be fine now off you go, and take this robe with you’
She handed me a dark red silk robe

‘Thank you’ I smiled as I went to shower

…………………………

I finished having my bath first so I went to answer the door. The crew had arrived and they came with a lot of accessories.

‘Is this is Miss Avery Uduike’s residence?’

‘Yes and you must be the crew Mrs Uduike hired?’

‘Yes Ma’am’ he answered

‘Come in’ I said as they brought in their things

‘Good you guys are here; how are you all doing?’ she asked

‘We are all goo ma and you?’

‘I’m better than ever’ she smiled at them

We had our hair, makeup and nails done and I was about to go to wear the outfit I bought but my mum had other plans.

‘Where are you going to young lady?’ she asked

‘To get my dress’ I said

‘That one would be worn to another event why not you try this out’

She said as she brought out a long  evening gown. It was long making some of the material to sweep the floor; it had a rose strap on the left side of the dress and the right hand was long sleeved. It had a dark shade of blue and it was perfect.

‘Do you like it?’ she asked

‘I love it! Mummy thank you so much’ I said as I tried to hug her to stopped

‘We don’t want to get our nails messed up, they haven’t dried yet’ she smiled

‘Thank you’ I smiled at her

‘We may not be as close as we were before but I still know what you like and what suits you’ she smiled

I smiled back at her.

We both got ready and we were taken to the venue; we met the Williams and I saw I.B’s parents and a little disappointed I didn’t see I.B.

I saw my brothers and my Dad but we didn’t spend much time together because he and my mum went to interact.

I was never a fan of these events because it was filled with old people and nothing interested me apart from the food. Sometimes Ziri and I would make up an excuse and go to the nearest bar to discuss before coming back but as we grew up we stopped doing those.

The event finally started and it went live. Lots of speeches were made, seminars boring talks and so on; finally it was time for dinner which I was grateful for because I was seriously starving after eating we were forced to dance so I took Ziri and started slow dancing with him.

‘This is so weird’ he said

‘I know right’ I said

‘How long have we been doing this’ he asked

‘About 10 minutes’

‘My legs hurt’ he said

‘And I need to use the toilet’ I said as we both stopped dancing

‘Take all the time you need I’ll wait’ he said

‘Whatever’ I said as I grabbed my purse and went to the restroom.
When I was done I decided to explore the area a little on my way I saw a familiar stature but I couldn’t see well so I stepped closer and said something

‘Hello?’

‘Avery?’
