my mouth hung agape,
stunned by your sudden
outburst and the harsh
look in your eye as if
any minute fuzzy laser
lights of red would flash
through your pupils and
melt me in plain sight.
there were only a few
times i would ever see
you glare but then, there
was that one glare that
forever haunted my mind.
that one awful night
that changed everything
between us.
i hadn’t noticed my
breathing had stopped
until your eyes began
to soften, darting
between your book and i.
“you’re blonde,” i mumbled
rocking back on my heels;
attempting to regain
composure instead of
mimicking a dog with his
tail between his legs.
“what?” you breathed
looking up at me with
furrowed brows pressed
together and your nose
scrunched.
i grinned, knowing you
wouldn’t understand nor
believe how much i missed
one small action.
“your hair,” i pointed to
your scalp with my pen.
i probed the inside of my
cheek with my tongue
to stifle the laughter
wanting to break through
as you were oblivious to
the changes that weren’t
different to you but only
me. “oh” you chirped,
your voice louder than
before, “yeah, it’s…”
“it’s nice” i rushed,
my mouth in full control
over my mind.
i mentally cursed myself
for speaking while you
smiled softly and
looked away, not even
mumbling a thank you
as if you were pretending
i didn’t speak.
pretending,
i wasn’t standing by your
table-
instead was the person
your eyes were searching
for at the door.

AN// I know this is a superrrrr late update but better late than never right ? ;-) I’ve been super busy the past couple of weeks and didn’t have the time to sit, write, and edit. Fortunately for me, today was Super Bowl Sunday and besides watching the game right now, I was able to do some writing! :-) This upcoming week will also be a bit busy for me and I’ll be going away this upcoming weekend so again updates may be a bit slow but I promise you they will not be like this for long.
