Mitch woke up before it was guard's time to come to wake everyone up. The sun barely started shining and he was already awake feeling like it was enough .

He yawned, rubbed his eyes and sat up. "You're awake?" His cellmate looked at him from his bed.

Mitch groaned. "Yeah." He didn't want to be awake yet. The more time he stays awake the longer it will feel until he's able to get out. He sighed and closed his eyes again. "Why are you awake this soon?"

Boy peeked at Mitch again. "It's been a while since I slept longer than this." Mitch's eyes shot open. "Why are you shocked? We're in prison, nobody here sleeps long enough to be woken up by the guards besides newbies."

Mitch looked out again. "I wish I could sleep, the time would go by much faster." He mumbled.

Boy got on Mitch's bed. "You miss them, don't you?" Mitch nodded and pushed his face into the pillow. "You better be good then." He patted his shoulder. "Come on, time for morning hygiene." He pulled Mitch up.

Mitch huffed, but stood up to do as much as he could. He wanted to be able to go home already so he can see his daughters, but there he was - in prison cell for something he didn't do. "Nightmare indeed." He mumbled remembering words of the guard that took him to his first cell. No hello, just welcome to your nightmare kid.

Boy turned to him. "Hm? I'm sorry I didn't hear you well, you're too quiet for that." He chuckled.

"Nothing." Mitch shook his head. He splashed his face with water to freshen himself up a bit. They changed their places (toilet and sink) and did what they had to do there. "Do you think the guard will bring me the book I got from the library? I had it in my previous cell."

Boy shrugged. "Depends on the guard, but probably no. They can be little bitches and make you go to the library again."

Mitch sighed. "Well that's cute, but my card was in that book. I used it as my bookmark." He smiled sarcastically and rolled his eyes. "What's next? My lawyer will come to tell me that my sister is looking into my case with him?" (he doesn't know that she's doing so)

"Why would she be looking into your case?" Boy asked and sat on Mitch's bed.

He chuckled. "Because she knows the truth and she wants to get me out of here."

Boy nodded. "Let me guess, you're innocent and she can't live with doing nothing to help you out of here."

Mitch looked at him with smile and little shock. "How much did I tell you about her yesterday?" They laughed. "But yeah. I was there since she was born and I bet that she's using it as an excuse to let Todrick let her work on it with him." He rubbed his eyes.

They wanted to keep talking when they heard guard waking up everyone. "Wake up or get beaten up!" He yelled into the hallway.

Mitch with the boy looked at each other. "Maybe new one. Nobody did this before." Boy shrugged and went to the bars to check. He couldn't see anyone as if they already left. He looked on the other side and no one was there either. He shrugged and went back to the bed. "I didn't see anyone."

"This is a weird place." Mitch rolled his eyes and sighed. "Is one normal-ish day too much to ask for?"

Boy chuckled and nodded. "This is prison, nothing is normal here. It never was and never will be."

"True. Goodness, I really hope that the time starts moving faster, I really want to go see my little babies." Mitch massaged sides of his head.

Boy chuckled. "It's fascinating to see how hopeless you are. You want to hope, but your rational mind doesn't let you." He leaned against the bars. Mitch looked at him and then sighed knowing he was right. "I'd say something like it gets better, but it won't. You will just get used to all of it."

Mitch nodded. "Sadly, I'm fully aware of that." He stood up and went to check if someone was already coming to get them. "Did we wake up that early or we're not going to eat breakfast today?" Mitch asked.

"Don't even joke about that." Boy said sternly. "Last time that happened few man were taken to the doctor after their cellmates took a bite." Mitch made a disgusted face. "But the doctor is cute, so it's always nice to see him." Boy smiled.

"Oooh, that sounds nice. At least someone here might be good looking." Mitch poked boy's side.

Boy laughed. "You're not that bad yourself." Mitch shook his head and looked out again, but still nothing. "Maybe he went to someone and forgot to watch the time." Mitch's eyes landed on his cellmate again, he was smiling. "What? You want to tell me that nobody here could catch your attention?"

Mitch shook his head. "I'm here to pay for what I've done, not to look for a partner." He checked again and then went back to his bed. He laid down and looked up into nothing.

Boy sat next to him. "Who said you can't have both?"

"I did, when I saw what happened to my ex-cellmate. What if I find someone and they end up dead?" Mitch looked at the boy. "I mean, I've been here for what? Two, three days? And I've already been moved to another cell because my previous cellmate died due to those dumb dumbs fighting for no bloody reason." He whisper-yelled. He punched his pillow.

The boy chuckled yet again. "This is prison, what did you expect?"

Mitch shook his head. "I expected my hell. That's true, but I thought those men were going to be a tiny bit civilized. This is not civilized." He pointed out. "Who in their right mind punches someone because they decided to eat besides them?" His hands tightened into fists so tight, few of his knuckles cracked the bubbles in them.

"These men are scared, because they don't know who's going to stab them nor when. They will rather be uncivilized than dead." He said.

Mitch shook his head. "I would rather die than look into my daughters' eyes knowing I failed them." He looked at his fists.

"Yeah, well not everyone has somebody like that. Think about it." Boy said and went to look out if any guards were coming... and they were, finally. "Time for the day to actually start." The boy turned to Mitch.

Mitch stood up and walked to his side. "We'll see who dies today and who's strong enough to survive another day." He whispered and waited until it would be the time for them to start the dangerous part of the day.
