Mitch was laying on his bed, but no one was in the bed above his. His boyfriend was out there in the actual world. He was happy for him, but he was sad. "Hey, squirt, why so down?" An inmate asked as he stood by Mitch's cell. "Your little teddy bear is not here to cuddle with you? I can do it for him." He laughed and shook his head.

Mitch sighed. "Don't worry, I'll see him soon enough. But if you do want to cuddle with someone so bad, I'm sure there are other fine gentlemen around here that would even give you a goodnight kiss too." Mitch chuckled. He pressed on the line just to remind himself of how fun it is.

The inmate walked to him and knelt down to his bed. "You know, when your little blanket isn't here, you don't have that extra layer of protection." He grabbed Mitch's shirt.

Mitch laughed. "Pun and a suggestion, damn, my friend, you sure you don't need to get laid by someone single around here?" He knew he was going to get punched sooner or later, hoping for later so he can make fun of the man.

The fist holding the shirt tightened. "Any more of that and I will make you eat this fist." The inmate grunted.

Mitch suppressed a smile. "You know, back in the days of my lawyer carrier, I had to defend clients against people that were trying to hurt them only because they were hurt themselves. For example, this man destroyed car of a doctor because his wife was dying and the doctor couldn't help the wife anymore. So who or what hurt your feelings?" He tilted his head.

The fuming man shook his head and punched Mitch straight in the stomach. "I heard that you're possibly getting out tomorrow so I better not make you look like you're about to collapse at any point. That would be on us then." He punched Mitch few more times. "You walked on the line for a while, you should learn that sometimes the line breaks." He grunted and pulled Mitch out of his cell.

Few other guys noticed them and joined "for the fun" and started beating Mitch. They wanted to do it for a while. His glow while his partner was there and his provoking was a fuel that just got ignited.

After a minute, they stepped away to look at their work. Mitch laid there, still conscious, but it was visible that he got hit in the head multiple times. Guys looked at each other. "Which one of you touched his head?" A guy asked. They all shrugged and when nobody said anything, they just walked away.

Mitch stood up with a lot of wincing and walked to a guard. "Can you please lead me to a doctor? I don't want to look too bad during tomorrow's hearing." He asked. "My boyfriend wouldn't appreciate it that much, neither would my lawyer or my blood-related family members." He smiled through his pain.

The guard snorted and took him to the doctor. When they got there, Mitch's face already had few blue-ish spots meaning he was most definitely going to have bruises there. "Hey, doc, anything you can do so he doesn't look like a trash can by tomorrow?"

Mitch smiled knowing full well that it was what he deserved. The doctor turned around and looked at the inmate. "I can try. Sit him down, will ya? I need to finish this letter and send it." He said looking back at the piece of paper. The guard left and Mitch was left there sitting on a chair. After about 5 minutes, doctor stood up and went to sent the letter. He came to Mitch and took a look at the bruises on the face. "Why exactly is tomorrow important?"

"I have my hearing and I should get my name cleared. If nothing goes wrong, I should be free in like 24 hours." He smiled at the doctor. "I have more future bruises all over me, but the face is what will present me to the judge, so please careful where you touch." He warned the doctor.

The doc gave him a look. "Why did you get a beating like this?"

Mitch sighed. "Because I have a boyfriend and I said few things that were unintentionally provocative. I mean there was a note that could be very provocative, but not all of it." He hissed as doctor laid a hand on his ribs.

Doctor lift the shirt to look and shook his head. "Well, you, my friend, will be very blue around here. There is nothing that I can do about that. But the face," two hands grabbed Mitch's head and two eyes observed it, "that is going to be some work to get this to not go blue too." A sigh echoed through the air.

Kimy's place

A car parked in front of the house and two people in their late 40's stepped out. The door on the house opened and two girls ran to the car happily to see their grandparents.

Then little girl stepped out of the car as well and went by them. She didn't really want to talk to her cousins. They were always so cheerful and she didn't really feel like it. She looked into one of the windows and she managed to look straight into the eyes of her twin.

She smiled a little and went to look for her in the house, of course as she walked in she got her shoes off. She walked into the kitchen and went right to her sister. "I missed you." She hugged her tightly.

The twin was shocked, but still hugged back. "I missed you too." She whispered back. "So we're good now? No more of what happened back at school?" She asked with small hopes in her voice.

"We're good." She whispered back.

Their aunt walked in. "Well look at that. Few months apart and you are just like me and your dad." She smiled at them. "Your grandparents wanted me to ask you, if you want to go back to the house were you both met or you want to stay here. You know that there's enough place for us all either way."

The sisters looked at each other and then back at their aunt. "Home." They said in unison.

Kimy laughed and nodded. "Okay. We'll see each other soon again, tomorrow actually." She kissed their heads and left them alone.

Kirstie looked at her sister. "I'm so sorry for what I did." She looked down.

Abby smiled at her. "It's okay. Just don't say anything to dad, okay?" She laughed. Kirstie nodded with a laugh.
