Tom's POV:

"You don't think he's hurt her again do you?" I asked worry in my voice.
"Look bro, we don't have solid proof that that's ever happened!" Haz said trying to comfort me "we can't just go around saying that that's what happened when we literally don't have ANY proof" he said yet again.

I could tell that he wasn't just trying to convince me; he was trying to convince himself. He was trying to convince himself there was nothing going on in Holly's house. Trying to convince himself that there was absolutely no chance that Holly's dad could hurt her.

The bruises that just suddenly appeared in massive amounts was concrete proof to me. I felt like there was something off about the whole situation. "I know Holly's a div and she's clumsy as fuck, but...come on. There's no way she's that clumsy. There's practically new bruises and marks appearing everyday" I said a sense of anger in my voice trying to convince Haz that we had to do something.

"Like I said we can't just accuse him" Haz said. He was the one in the friend group that actually thought things through. Everything he does or has ever done has been well thought out. He's always been that person in the friend group. And usually when Haz says something that's what goes, there's no further questioning but, when it comes to Holly I'm more careful. She is my absolute best friend. I would never forgive myself if something happened to her and i just sat on the sidelines watching it happen.

The rest of the night dragged in but eventually I decided to call it a night. The thought of Holly still fresh on my mind. The worry taking over me.
I quietly left Haz' house careful not to wake him as he had already fell asleep. Usually I would just stay the night but tonight I didn't. I felt too panic stricken. I felt on edge.

The second I was at home and in my room I grabbed my phone typing a message to Holly.

No. 1 Div 😂

Me: Hey, how was your night? Still bummed that you couldn't make it

Almost instantly she replied as if she had been waiting for a text

No. 1 Div 😂

No. 1 Div: Hey looser! yeah I know me too. I wish I could have. Sorry :( Hope you guys had a good night tho. but yeah it's been okay, pretty boring.

Me: see that's what happens when you don't hang out with the boys. Hope your dad wasn't too harsh on you.

Me: look I know it's not really my place but, earlier on when you said you were still paying the price, what did you mean? He's not hurting you is he.

She took an unusual amount of time to respond I could see the dots showing that she was typing, appearing and then disappearing in a frequent pattern.

No. 1 Div: No of course not. I appreciate the fact that you worry but I'm okay. You know how he is, he gets mad sometimes. I'm okay tho.

Me: okay if there was anything going on you can tell me about it, you know that right?

No. 1 Div: well there's not. So I'm going to bed. Goodnight looser

That response was extremely strange. It just seemed so blunt. As if she was desperate to get off of the topic that threatened to rise again with any slightly concerning answer. But then again maybe there was nothing and I was just reading too much into it.
