11 : Fasting Blood Sugar

Literal na tinakbo ko ang neuro ward. Kailangan kong maabutan si Doc Ibarra. I already requested an MRI for Jed. He agreed. Baka isasalang na din siya sa mga oras na 'to.

Mabilis kong pinanhik ang ward nagbabakasakaling makikita ko si Doc Ibarra. I was busy holding onto my phone calling him when the elevator sounded and opened.

My only choice left is Dr. Villa. I won't let Dr. Montenegro handle Jed's case.

" Is Dr. Villa around?" I asked the ER nurse

She nodded

" Yes po Doc, sa katunayan nakaduty po siya ngayon sa ER. Nasa MRI room na po pala si Doc Jed. Ongoing na po ang MRI niya." The nurse told me.

" Sige, maraming salamat." I thanked the nurse

It didn't take me long to finally see Dr. Villa when I reached the radiologic room. Kausap niya na ang mama ni Jed at mukhang nageexplain na siya kung papaano ba ang kaso ng pasyente.

It will take a few minutes more before the official reading will be out. Kinakabahan ako sa puwedeng maging resulta ng reading. But I have to stay positive despite everything.

Iyung halos isang oras na paghihintay ko ng resulta ay parang naging buong araw na. Kinakabahan ako, sobra.

After almost an hour, the official reading, including the MRI plate was handed to us by the rad tech on duty. I can see in his face that he just handed a bad result. Hindi manlang ito nakangiti gaya ng dati niyang ginagawa. Dr. Villa took the results and read it. Napatingin agad siya sa akin.

" Ma'am, mag-uusap lang kami ni Doc Fajardo" Pakiusap niya sa mama ni Jed. I made sure Jed is okay. Binalik muna namin siya sa ER bago kami nag-usap ni Dr. Villa.

" He has brain tumor Doc Fajardo. Glioblastoma, cancer of the brain" Diretso niyang wika sa akin. Umiling ako.

" Migraines cannot be associated with seizure disorders, Doctora Fajardo. And we both know that nausea and vomiting is included. We already can rule out Migraine. I'm sorry but my diagnosis is brain cancer. We have to tell Dr. Alfonso as soon as possible. He has the right to know his physical state. He will require us his diagnosis." He said. Hindi ko matanggap. Ayokong maniwala sa lahat ng sinasabi niya.

" I need to call Dr. Ibarra. This is urgent, he was able to successfully do the operation on the senator's son, I'm sure he could do it to Jed" I told Dr. Villa.

" Dr. Ibarra is out for vacation. It's not possible for him to come back. I'm a neurologist Dra. Fajardo but I know someone's better than me.
