Naging abala ako sa ICU dahil mayat maya ay nagseseizure na si Jed. Hindi puwedeng puro Diazepam nalang ang ibigay ko sa kaniya. I am losing hope. I need to find someone completely capable of dealing with Jed's case.

And I know that I need to swallow my pride and talk to him. As soon as possible.

Lumabas ako ng ICU at dumiretso sa nurses' station.

" Nakita mo ba si Doc Luigi?" Tanong ko kay Chin. Tinuro sa akin ni Chin iyung top floor. Dun kase ang office ng Chief of Surgery. Siya ngayon ang nakaupo sa puwesto ni Doc Ibarra pansamantala.

Wala akong choice kundi ang magpakumbaba. If it means I get to save Jed's life I'd do it.

Sumakay ako ng elevator pataas para kausapin si Doc Montenegro.

The moment I stepped on the right floor, my heart started beating so fast. Kumatok ako bago pumasok and there I saw him. A greek god wearing white coat, relaxed and sitted infront of his table like a boss. Diretso ang tingin niya sa akin.

" I-I need your help" It came out almost a whisper. Wala naman akong ibang puwedeng sabihin sa kaniya kundi ang dahilan kung bakit ako nandirito. I badly need his expertise.

" Para kanino?" Iyun agad ang tanong niya. Ang lamig ng boses niya. Masmalamig pa sa yelo.

" It's for Doc Jed Alfonso" I told him with firm voice.

" No" He answered straight while looking at me in the eyes.

" Bakit? Nasa hippocratic oath natin ang tumulong" I countered.

" But I have the right to refuse when I know that it's beyond my capabilities" He said.

Umiling ako

" You are skilled to do it, Doctor. Do not deny the given" I demanded

" I will use treatment to help the sick according to my ability and judgement" I recited a few lines from the hippocratic oath

" No" Sagot niya parin.

" Glioblastoma, cancer of the brain. There's no other neurosurgeon skilled enough to do the operation but you. You've read his chart. And by this time, I know you have lists of plans. All I wanted is your help, Doctor. He needs it" I begged. Never did I think of begging him but I need to. Hindi ko kayang gawin iyung surgery at siya lang ang makakagawa non.

" No. I refuse. Find another doctor to do it." He said with finality. Why is he acting like this?

" Please. Parang awa mo na. He keeps on having seizures. I don't know which medication should I start." I begged him once more but he remained calmed and unaffected.

" Kahit ngayon please." I whispered.

He stayed silent and did not bother answering me.

" Your silence is not an answer, Doctor. You need to speak something" I told him. Ayoko iyung ganito. Hindi ko manlang alam kung ano ang nasa isip niya.

" Is this how you welcome me, Doctor Fajardo?" He was still looking at me.

" How do you want me to welcome you Doctor?" Balik tanong ko sa kaniya. Because as far as I remember, we are as good as strangers.

" That Doctor, who is he to you?" Still, ano bang paki niya.

" He's my boyfriend, Doctor" I told him honestly.

" That's why I'm here asking for your help. I can't lose him Doctor." It was sincere.

" I told you my answer. I won't operate on him" He said. Then why is he asking so many questions. What for?
