21 : Rapid Test

Masayang pinirmahan ni Jed ang kaniyang discharge papers.

" One month rest, Jed. You cannot come back for duty yet" I reminded him. Nalungkot ito dahil sa sinabi ko.

" I'm perfectly fine, Love. Mas hindi ako kampante kung wala ako dito. Your ex eyes me like I'm his hell of a rival. But I guess I need to thank him for keeping me alive all this time" He said sharply. Ako man ay nagulat din sa sinabi ni Jed.

" I fought hard, Love. You are the reason why I am still alive. I thank God for helping me survive. Kahit na mahirap. I still am alive because I want to live longer to be with you" Niyakap niya ako ng mahigpit. I cupped his cheeks.

" I almost lost everything while seeing you helpless, Jed. It pained me seeing you fight for a situation you don't even deserve to be in. But you made it. Kahit ano pang naging kapalit ng lahat. Sana patawarin mo ako." I wiped my tears as I silently confessed my mistakes.

" Ako parin naman ang pinili mo diba?" He said. His eyes were somehow pleading. Ang bigat mga salitang binitawan niya. It felt like a dagger knifed straight into my heart.

" I will choose you no matter what happens, Jed" I whispered. As much as I want to stop this pain I am feeling, I cannot. Despite the fact that I am also hurting, I don't have the right to be hurting.

Niyakap ko si Jed ng mahigpit.

His things are already packed and fixed. He's ready to go home.

His follow up check up is due after 3 days. Doctor Montenegro advised a continuation of his home medications until further notice.

I helped in assisting him sit down on the wheelchair as we made our way out of the hospital.

I still need to go back inside the hospital since I'm on duty. Nakadeck ako sa OR ngayon at sa mga susunod na mga araw.

" I'll come home early, Jed. Don't worry." I promised him. He took my hand and kissed it.

" I love you. I'll be waiting for you at home" He said.

Nagpaalam na ako sa kaniya ng maayos siyang maipasok sa loob ng kotse.

In went back inside after they drove of. I looked at the time and cursed at myself when I saw that I'm late for OR. My OR si Doc Montenegro ngayon, craniotomy.

I literally ran going to the OR. Nang makarating ako sa OR ay sinadya ko munang tignan iyung OR scheduling board.

Doc Villa's name was written on the OR scheduling board and I am seriously late for OR. I'm 10 minutes late

Nang makapasok ako ng tuluyan sa OR ay nakita ko iyung nurse na nasa OR nurses' station, she's about to call someone.

" Buti nalang nandito na kayo Doc. Kanina pa mainit ang ulo ni Doc Montenegro sa loob ng OR." Wika sa akin nung nurse.

" Sorry, I will explain myself to Doc Montenegro" Paumanhin ko. Dumiretso na ako sa washing area. I did my sterile techniques in washing. But as soon as I entered the OR, kitang kita ko ang matalim na tingin sa akin ni Luigi.

I wore my OR gown the sterile technique, then surgical gloves.

" Let's start. Who's my scrub nurse?" Wika ni Doc Montenegro.

" Doc ako po. " Vanessa, the OR nurse replied

" Doctora Fajardo will be my first assist. Doc Villa you will be my second" Doc Luigi said in a very serious voice.
