26 : MRI

Ivana

Pinasok na namin si Luigi sa OR. Good thing Dr. Ibarra is back from his long days of vacation and he reported on time.

I showed him the MRI results immediately. Pinagpapawisan pa ako. I've read the MRI official result and I thanked all the gods in the heavens because my Luigi is not due for any brain surgery. Just minor lacerations and for blood transfusion. Medyo maraming dugo ang nawala sa kaniya dahil apektado ang isa niyang kamay.

" We need an orthosurgeon. I already called Dr. Bustamante. He will perform the procedure. And you will not assist him." He said.

" No! I will assist him! Pasyente ko-"

" He's the love of your life for heaven's sake Ivana. Your brain, even though it's stuck with too much IQ and letters from the books you've read will fail to function because it's Luigi Clyde Montenegro on the OR bed we're talking about. So step back and let Dr. Villa assist." Wika sa akin ni Dr. Ibarra.

" I cannot-"

" He will be okay, Doctor Fajardo. Just an ORIF. He will be concious and verbally able to talk to you in a few hours." Wika sa akin ni Doc Ibarra. Sa likod naman niya ay nakita ko si Dra. Ibarra na walang humpay ang kagandahan.

Kung may diyosa man ang ospital, si Doc Ja na iyon.

" Huwag kang OA, Ivana" Wika niya sa akin. Nang mapatingin si Doc Ibarra kay Doc Ja ay agad na napalitan ang seryoso niyang mukha ng isang matamis na ngiti.

" You came early. Dapat nagpahinga ka na muna. Bawal na sa 'yo magpuyat Ja." Doc Ibarra said as he advanced in Doc Ja's direction and kissed her forehead.

" I'll be at the OR. Call me when you need me. I love you" He whispered.

" Sweet pero nakakabitter." Wika ko bago nagpaalam ng patago kay Doc Ja dahil kunyari ay nagtatampo ako kay Doc Ibarra.

" I don't want you in the OR Ivana. I'll drag you out myself when I see you there" Warning my ass.

" Edi drag me GO! Pagcheer pa kita!" Sabad ko

" Ivana!"

THREE HOURS passed, the surgery was successful. Nasalinan na din ng isang bag ng dugo si Luigi. Repeat Hemoglobin and Hematocrit will be done six hours post blood transfusion. Nevertheless, he's okay.

He's already consious when I entered his room. Medyo kinakabahan pa nga akong tignan ang kalagayan niya.

When I entered, I saw him awake and watching tv. Parang kanina lang hindi ganito ang itsura niya.

He turned off the tv when he saw me.

" Lasing ka at nagdrive sa gitna ng gabi. Isip pa ba iyun ng matinong lalaki?" Simula ko. He just smiled.

" Sorry for making you worry" Paumanhin niya.

" That isn't my point, Doctor. Kung may balak kang magpakamatay, make sure I won't see you. I hate it when people play with their lives. You don't even think of the people who cares for you. Iyung mga magulang mo." Malamig kong untag sa kaniya.

" My thoughts are always full of you, Ivana. Walang araw na hindi ikaw ang nasa isip ko. Walang gabi na hindi ikaw ang hanap ko. At nasasaktan ako dahil hindi ako ang hanap mo." He said, full of emotions.

" Don't use that kind of words on me now Luigi. At hindi iyan ang pinag-uusapan natin ngayon. And that's the truth." I stated calmly kahit ang totoo niyan ay gustong gusto kong sumigaw.
