ʙʀʏɴɴᴇ [ʙ-ʀ-ɪʜ-ɴ] / ʀʏɴ [ᴘʀᴏɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴅ: ʀ-ɪʜ-ɴ ᴏʀ ʀᴇɪɢɴ]

Brynne's bedroom was different than the rest of her apartment, and that started once one sees the floral carved rustic doors that slid open. Entering the bedroom one could barely see the hardwood floor as it was covered by a large light pink vintage rug. The bedroom walls were painted black but they had hinted undertones of grey and green which showed because of the long rectangular window that took over almost the whole wall. The white floor-length curtains matched the queen-sized bedframe that had on either side two marble nightstands.

Brynne laid on her light teal comforter and a rustic orange throw blanket was lazily placed over her body. After last night's news, she didn't feel like leaving her room, especially when she heard Simon let Clary into the apartment and they made their way to the guest room. Brynne didn't have anything against Clary, it was just the fact that Clary could kill every Downworlder on earth with a single touch of a sword that made the warlock want to stay in bed.

"How many Downworlders do you think live in New York?" Alec asks making Brynne turn her head to look at the dark-haired Shadowhunter laying on the bed next to her

"I don't know," Brynne replies before moving closer to Alec's stiff body lying next to her and placing her hand on top of his that rested on his leather jacket. "but they're not all your responsibility"

"But you are"

Brynne couldn't help but smile at his words and him starting to caress her hand, "I can take care of myself"

"Maybe..." Alec trails off turning back to looking up at the white ceiling "but this is different. You may have lived through the fall of Rome, but even the Dark Ages couldn't have been this dark"

"Alec... I know things seem bleak," Brynne starts off moving her hand off his chest to caress his face making Alec notice she wasn't wearing any rings, not even the pinky ring she'd been wearing since the night they met, "but nothing was as devastating as seeing you standing on that ledge"

"It was the magic. I would never, never–"

Brynne couldn't help but cut him off, she didn't want him to lie to her or break such a promise in the near future when things get bad once again, "I know, I know. But... magic can't create fears, only bring them out"

"Ryn–"

"Look you don't have to explain yourself. I-I've been through it myself. Just promise you'll tell me if things ever get that bad," Brynne pleads making Alec move her hand off his cheek and to his mouth so he can gently kiss it while nodding his head

There was a loud knock on the bedroom door making Brynne groan at the sound of the rapid knock that didn't seem to be stopping, "I'm not receiving visitors!"

"We need your help," Jace urgently proclaims trying to open the bedroom doors but they were locked

"A heads up phone call would've been nice!" Brynne shouts standing up from the bed not bothering to put on any shoes, after all, it was her house

Sliding the bedroom doors Brynne was met with Jace and Clary who had a problem. Said problem being Clary's hand, the tips of her fingers were turning black and it was spreading up her hand

They moved to the living room that had all the curtains open allowing Brynne to see and perform certain spells. No spell to stop the black spread from Clary's hand worked making Brynne sadly look had the redheads hand she held, "La Chair Brûlée"
