ʙʀʏɴɴᴇ [ʙ-ʀ-ɪʜ-ɴ] / ʀʏɴ [ᴘʀᴏɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴅ: ʀ-ɪʜ-ɴ ᴏʀ ʀᴇɪɢɴ]

While Brynne couldn't fully contribute to the warlocks putting up the wards all over the city she was able to help. Such as helping those who needed recharging, taking care of the young warlocks whose parents were helping, and making sure everything around them was to their liking

So when she had a break so she herself could recharge Brynne went to her apartment for a change of shoes and just some quiet. That all ended when Simon stormed into the apartment and quickly walks over to Brynne who sat on the couch with a purple smoothie with boba in hand, "We need to talk"

"Sure," Brynne shrugs her shoulders but doesn't stand up or set down her drink

"Are you drunk?" Simon asks having first-hand experience with alcoholics and while Brynne wasn't one he recognized the signs of someone being drunk

"I was like an hour ago why?"

Simon walks over to sit on the couch facing Brynne who was chewing the boba in her mouth as if there wasn't a war happening outside the apartment walls, "I want to talk to my sober best friend"

"Of fuck is this a scolding?" Brynne questions but her mind not being 100% clear started to trail off course "Am I about to be scolded? Scowlded?"

"Scolded," Simon emphasized only for the girl before him to narrow her eyes

"It's a strange world"

"It's really not." Simon shakes his head as he had something important to say "Are you sure you're sober?"

"Okay so I may be a bit buzzed but can retain anything so hit me," Brynne clarifies settling down her drink on the coffee table next to them

"I just came from talking to the Seelie Queen"

At the news Brynne widens her eyes not expecting that bit of information, "Wow that must have gone bad. Right?"

"She invited me to live in her Court, and I said "Thanks, but no thanks", and then she... She threatened to hurt the people I care about"

"Well, I'm not hurt so what's the problem?" Brynne questions not understanding the seriousness of their need to talk

"Maia's gone missing"

"You certain she's missing?"

"She disappeared from the Hunter's Moon. And I think your bestie the Seelie Queen's responsible," Simon overstates wanting Brynne to take the subject seriously

"Watch your language," Brynne scolds him knowing she's rather be caught dead than be the Seelie Queen's bestie "Why would she want Maia?"

"She has this crazy obsession with me because of the whole Daylighter thing and I rejected her no one does that," Simon reiterates the last thing the Queen told him after she was rejected by him

"True," Brynne shrugs before bringing her other point "but the Queen also offered shelter to every Downworlder"

"That shelter comes loyalty to the Queen. Maia wouldn't go for that. And she wouldn't desert her pack, she's not like that"

"Mhm," Brynne thinks about it for a second trying to be optimistic and not worry the boy before her "so your new girlfriend has disappeared in the middle of a war, and you're worried. Totally normal but from what I've seen, Maia has a temper and will fight. So maybe she found a lead on Valentine and is off hunting him down"
