Like Grass

They say be strong.
Rise like fire.
Burn and rage.
Maim and destroy.

Fire is powerful.
Fire is beauty.
Fire is destruction.
Fire is weak.

It always dies eventually.
A fire can always be doused.
Embers can be crushed.
Flames can sizzle out.

Don't be strong like fire.
You're powerful for a moment.
But in the next,
You've lost.

Be strong like grass.
Grass can survive anything.
Frost and fire.
Drought and famine.

Grass always comes back.
Its roots are deep.
Its grip is firm.
Grass survives.

Grass can fade, that's true.
But it always returns.
A single rainstorm can revive grass.
A wild prairie fire can too.

Be strong like fire?
No, be strong like grass.
Dig your roots deep.
Bide your time.

Live and return.
