Memory of a Dream

Grief is so strange.
You heal, but not completely.
The memory never leaves.
The scars still remain.

The pain fades.
It's not as sharp as before.
Yet all it takes is a tap
And your heart shatters like before.

It's been a year.
A little more.
I miss you now
And forever more.

The memories
Are bittersweet.
They ache to recall
But still I seek.

Once, it had only been a few days.
I fell asleep crying
And woke in a daze.
You were there.

I know it was dream.
What else could it have been?
Yet you stood beside me
Glowing like a star.

You wore white.
Your gaze shone with love.
You looked so happy.
So at peace and serene.

You told me you loved me.
You told me you would watch over me.
I know you have.
You've saved my life once.

I'll never forget
That blessed dream.
I thank you for that goodbye.
I miss you.
