You Lit the Fire

I was dead.
I couldn't feel.
I couldn't hear.
All I wanted,
Was to see you.

I cried my heart out,
Wishing that I could talk to you.
You were the only one
I truly, desperately, needed.
Although you'll never know.

I prayed to the Father
And cried all the while.
Asking Him to please,
Let us talk for awhile.
I never dared to hope.

All that lay within me
Were ashes and tears.
I had no fire within
Not an ember, not a spark.
And then, you became a light in my dark.

God answered my prayer.
He doubled it too.
For when you spoke to me,
It was Him speaking through you.
By His Grace, you came.

Your words set a spark
In the ashes of my heart.
That spark grew to an ember.
It roared to a small flame.
That flame remains small,

But a small flame burns the brightest of all.
