The company stood on a balcony on the side of the mountain that overlooked the kingdom - Lake-town was in full view. The little town suspended in water was now lit up like a bonfire as the screams of the residents' were carried in with the chilling air.

Leo stood leaning over the edge of the balcony, her chin rested on her numb hands while her sorrowful green eyes lit up with reds and yellows. Tears steadily streamed down her face which left icy trails down her blistered little cheeks. She knew Fili would have stayed with Kili, who she assumed had either died before Smaug got to them or was on the verge of death. She tried to reason with herself on the fact that she would never see him again, but she still hoped. The now hollow feeling in her heart wouldn't let her feel anything other than hope.

Bilbo stood beside her and just watched the town, he didn't try to speak to her as he knew she was not mentally stable enough at the moment to formulate a cohesive answer.

 "Poor souls," Balin spoke solemnly.

The company just watched the flames overtake the town, grieving silently and heartbroken.

Some time had passed and the company had retreated away from the edge of the balcony as they tried to stay warm, Leo had not moved. There was still a silence among them until a booming roar ripped through the night followed by Smaug's figure suddenly crashing into the lake. Leo lifted her head and gripped the stone balcony, her mouth slightly gapped.

"Wh...what was that? What happened?" Ori asked rising from his seat.

Bilbo rose to his feet as well, as his eyes blazed with hope. "It fell, I saw it. It's dead. Leo, did you see it?"

The girl had looked at them for the first time in a while and nodded. "He's dead...Smaug is dead." A small smile appeared on her face, still full of sadness, but finally a smile.

Thorin, who stood away from the group, gazed up at the mountain with dark eyes - it was solely his mountain again.

"By my beard, I think he's right!" Gloin pointed at the birds that already began to return to the mountain. "Look there! The Ravens of Erebor are returning to the Mountain."

"Aye, word will spread. Before long, every soul in Middle Earth will know the Dragon is dead!" Balin cheered along with the rest of the company.

While the dwarves celebrated, Thorin headed back into the mountain. Leo watched him concernedly.

-------------------

The company began to settle themselves into Erebor, finding rooms and doing some cleaning. Leo was given a little room closest to Bilbo. She made it her own, as best she could, for the time being. It was safe to say that she had done the most cleaning out of the naturally messy dwarves.

She had changed into an extra outfit she had in her bag and wandered the halls toward the sound of the dwarves that sat around a large dining table.
