AN: Sorry I'm reposting this chapter. I added something to it.

The next evening, Maddie was getting ready for the decades dance.

"You look great

"You look great." Stefan said, standing in her doorway. "The 50's always suited you best."

"I could say the same for you." Maddie said as she turned around to face her father. "I must admit the 50's have been my favorite decade so far."

Stefan smiled. "Ready to go?" He asked.

"Yep." Maddie said.

"I'll meet you at the school." Stefan said. "I'm going to go pick up Elena."

"Ok." Maddie said. "I'll see you there."

They both headed downstairs and walked outside. Stefan got into his car and Maddie headed into the woods, so she could run to the school.

A little bit later, Maddie saw Elena and her dad arrive.

"Hey Maddie." Elena greeted.

"Hey Elena." Maddie said.

"Shouldn't you guys be able to sense each other or something?" Elena asked.

"It doesn't work that way." Maddie said.

"See him anywhere?" Stefan asked.

"Not unless he has a pompadour." Elena joked.

"Not one of the better fashion trends." Maddie said.

"I'm sure Stefan looked great back then." Elena said. "Are there pictures?"

"No." Stefan said. "Burned. Buried."

"Actually." Maddie said. "I may have kept a few."

"Please tell me you're joking." Stefan said.

"You told me never lie to you." Maddie said. "So no. I'm not joking."

"What was it like, the fifties?" Elena asked. "Cause in my mind, I have this picture of somewhere between "American Bandstand," "Grease." It's all varsity sweaters and milkshakes."

"Well, that and, you know, McCarthyism, segregation and nuclear arms race." Stefan said.

"But there were poodle skirts, right?" Elena asked.

"Of course." Maddie said, gesturing towards her outfit.

"You're so teaching me how to do the hand jive." Elena said.

"That's not gonna happen." Stefan said.

"One move?" Elena asked.

"Nope." Stefan said.

"Come on." Maddie said. "Let's show her how it was done in the 50's."

Stefan sighed. He grabbed Maddie by the arm and twirls her towards him. He picked her up and dipped her on one side and then the other. After setting Maddie down, he did the same thing with Elena.

"Now you remember that, because it's never gonna happen again." Stefan said. Elena smiled.

Maddie saw Jeremy with the same girl she saw him with the other day. She walked over to them. "Hey Jeremy." Maddie said.

"Hey Maddie." Jeremy said. The two girls looked at each other. "Oh. Anna, this is my friend, Maddie." Jeremy said. "Maddie, this is Anna."

"It's nice to meet you." Anna said.

"You too." Maddie said.

Jeremy and Anna started talking, but Maddie didn't pay attention. She looked across the room and saw Tyler. She noticed him staring back at her. She turned back to Jeremy and Anna. Jeremy ended up moving closer to Anna and Maddie. Both girls faces changed. They made eye contact, both realizing that the other was a vampire.

"Your guys eyes." Jeremy said.

"It's nothing." Maddie said as she turned around, hoping Anna did the same.

"I gotta go." Anna said.

"Me too." Maddie said, before walking away. She went over to Tyler.

"Hey." Tyler greeted. "Want to get out of here?"

"How about a dance first." Maddie said. "If I dance with you, then can we leave?" Tyler asked.

"Yes." Maddie said.

"Alright." Tyler said.

They started dancing. Maddie enjoyed the rest of the night.
