"I feel overdressed" Toph moaned stepping up the last step of the stairs into the magnificent ballroom that had been converted into the room that would change the city here on after. People had already arrived but Toph left it in the last minute to chose a outfit while you had been waiting at her door since 8pm.

It was now 8:46pm.

"You look beautiful" you commented when you both had ascended into the room swarming with fancy partygoers chuckling among themselves.

Toph blushed but the lighting of the room had dimmed her features leaving it unnoticed "...thanks, you too" she whispered grabbing onto your arm, closing in as you guided her through the opening into the crowd looking for the others.

"I'm excited!" You exclaimed weaving you both through a group of air nomads who smiled softly at your appearance.

Toph chuckled lightly, "Only because you don't have to deal with Raiko anymore"

"Hey that's true but also Zhu li really deserves this" you softened your voice knowing the real intent that you were here and that was because no one deserves it more than Zhu li, the only one that didn't give up on the city when they needed it the most. Toph smiled in response whilst you continued to push past the people searching for the others who had promised to wait at the front but of course that didn't apply to late comers.

"It's election night here in republic city!" The announcer yelled excitedly through the microphone earning the roar of the crowd that had suddenly ended all conversations and now focused on the announcer. "- and this is Shiro shinobi coming to you across the airwaves, live from the fabulous four elements hotel ballroom"

"Hey I found the others" you explained seeing Makos scarf through the crowd and Bolin cheering as he bounced up and down from the crowd. Korra saw your arrival and nudged the others to indicate your arrival finally. The two girls in opposite colours, asami wore a red

But yourself? No you had ditched the blue tribe colours feeling uncomfortable at the thought of matching with Korra especially if it meant honouring your home; where people had abandoned you. So instead you wore a matching green coloured smart shirt with a light brown trousers matching with the metal bender who was wearing a short green dress and sporting your jacket that she had stolen on the way over whilst complaining that she was cold.

"Hey Toph looking better" Bolin smiled ecstatically giving the girl a side hug of some sort although it rested on his side more than the earth benders. Asami smiled but of course she had been used to your Change in how you dressed but Korra examined your outfit and frowned her brows together.

"Still in this damn cast though" Toph groaned lifting her arm up as she showed of her arm wrapped in a cast as it popped out from your baggy jacket wrapped loosely around the girls shoulders.

The silence was sure to come but lucky the conversation came to an end when the announcer called out again from the side of the stage. "Everyone who's anyone has come here in support of Zhu li Moon, hoping to see her become the next president of the united republic! "Can we talk?" Korra whispered leaning into your working ear as Toph leans against your arm waiting for the event to start. The others seemed engaged too so it was just you and Korra.

"In a minute the results are going to be in. There about to make the announcement, won't it be great when Zhu Li wins this thing?" You asked whispering back with a whole load of excitement, you were definitely happy to work along side Zhu li and not Raiko anymore.

"Y/n" korra urged feeling the need to speak to you straight away. You waved your hands as the announcer receives the envelope with the results passed by a nervous looking thin guy who ran away at the stares of the crowd.

He opens it slowly building the intensity of the rooms vibe. You squeezed Tophs good hand and she smiled squeezing back at you both waited for the announcer to let it out. "And we a whopping 68% of the vote, Zhu li moon wins in a landslide!"

"Zhu li! Zhu li!" The crowd roars and Korra sighs unable to gain your attention at the moment as you focus on Zhu li bursting out from behind the curtain with a large smile. She comes to a stop and the light focuses on her giving her the whole room as it becomes dead silent.

"Thank you! Thank you everyone! I stand before you humbled and honoured to serve you as your next president, with no illusions about the challenges we face. If the events of the past several months are any indication, there are still dark times ahead. And our path is far from certain. She continues to address the crowd but you turn to look for some escape route, a balcony being the main attraction from behind the hall. "Follow me" you whispered helping you both slide away without much attention especially from the others who were investing their attention on Zhu lis speech. The sounds of the crowd and Zhu li drowned out by the glass doors as you both stand out on the balcony above the city.

"What are we doing out here?" Toph shivered at the first contact of the light breeze. You chuckled lightly feeling it yourself but you shuffled the jacket more tightly onto the small girl making sure that she stayed warm under the stars.

You sighed watching her wait for you to say something. "I've been afraid to talk to you for a while but I can't keep doing this. It's my fault your in that cast- that you got hurt in the first place" you explained hoovering your hand over the castes hand before taking her other in yours.

"Y/n" Toph warned softly.

"No it's okay. I haven't treated you right. I almost lost you and I held a grunge on you for so long about Korra, I've been so distant and it's not fair on you. I love you Toph Bei fong, please forgive this stupid idiot" you started to feel yourself ramble on but cut it out, you didn't want to keep the woman out here any longer than she would like. You had apologised to the girl so many times but it didn't mean that you believed that you deserved her forgiveness.

"Hey your forgetting that your my stupid idiot. I love you too" she smiled slapping your shoulder before pulling your shirt harshly and crashing your lips together. You shuffled your feet closer standing inches above the girl but leaned down to continue the kiss.
