Forty-ninth Dive

Eryx Carter Fuentabella

We have a new classmate. She's wearing a jacket while wearing our school uniform. Is she cold? The weather is hot, though. Meron din siyang headset na nakasabit sa leeg niya.

"I'm Meriedeth Salazar. Sixteen."

Maraming mga tanong ang mga kaklase namin. Well, I guess she is smart because of her average. She seems like a cold person. Umupo siya sa bakanteng upuan sa harapan ko. The class started to vote for class officer's, malapit ng umiyak si Pres namg nagsimula hindi makinig mga kaklase namin.

I saw Shelanie pulled the transferee's headset. I think it made her pissed but she's just holding back. I ended up being the prince charming in class while she is the muse.

"Eryx, can you tour Miss Salazar around the campus?" pakiusap ni Miss Rios.

Ayoko naman sumuway ng guro. I keep my book and looked for her. She seems like a lonely person. Tama nga ang hinala ko, she's eating alone here at the rooftop. I give her a tour around the campus. The next day is recruitment day for different clubs.

"Weh?" she said and looked at me.

Member ako ng swimming club. Well, it may not look like it. Nagpaalam ako kina Shelanie, pupunta naman sila mamaya, e. Pagdating ko sa club room ay bukas ito. Agad akong nagbihis agad tumungo sa pool para maligo.

"I thought bawal ang food sa pool area?" I heard her asked.

Melanie tried to recruit her many times pero hindi niya narecruit si Salazar. I decided to call her Salazar, that's what Shelanie calls her too. Tsaka, she calls me Fuentabella, my last name. Palagi niyang sinasabi na hindi siya sasali at hindi siya interesado.

"Good morning guys! Yow! Yow! Its your handsome classmate!" napatingin kami ni Shelanie sa umupo sa upuan ni Salazar.

"Hoy Rovic, may nakaupo na diyan," sabi ni Shelanie.

"Hay nako, pwede naman ako makipag-negotiate sa nakaupo dito na dito nalang ako uupo."

"Kung manegotiate mo nga," sabi ko naman.

Absent siya for a few days, tamad talaga siyang pumasok basta bago pa lang nagbubukas ang klase. I told him about the swimming club but he just shooked his head. He started telling us about the girl he met in the store. Ikinukuwento niya kung gaano nakakatakot ang mukha ng babae.

Rovic and his dramatic stories.

I saw Salazar standing behind Rovic as he continue to tell the story. When Salazar and Rovic saw each other they we're surprised.

"Dude! Siya yung sinasabi ko na mukhang shark!"

Ano ba 'yan.

Sinaway siya ni Shelanie, tiningnan ko si Salazar. She doesn't care at all. Every lunch time napapansin kong umaalis siya ng room, dalawang beses ko siyang palihim na sinundan. She's eating lunch at the rooftop while listening to mhsic. Naabutan ko rin ng isang beses na natutulog siya.

Napansin kong wala siya tuwing may klase kami sa pool area. I heard her and Shelanie talking about it. Sumakit daw tiyan niya noong huling klase, hmmm.

"Rovic, patingin naman ng dive mo," sabi ng isa naming kaklase.

"Wag na, mahal talent fee ko, guys. Hindi niyo afford."

"Mahangin," pang-aasar ng kaklase namin.

Nakisabay naman si Rovic sa asaran ng mga kaklase namin. I saw Meriedeth wearing our school uniform, hindi pa siya nagpapalit and she's with Shelanie. Masama ata ang mood niya.
