Chapter 15

Leo's POV

We arrive at the field and the flowers are still in bloom. I help Victoria out of the car grabbing the basket and blanket. After a few minutes I find the perfect spot and spread out the blanket helping my mate to sit down. I am so nervous I continue to stand and pace.

"What's wrong Leo?" Victoria looks at me questionably.

"Victoria, I have something important to tell you and show you, but I'm really nervous how you will react." I say trying to feel her out.

"Well, what is it? It can't be that bad. I mean I told you my secret because I trusted you. So, Leo you can trust me with whatever it is." She smiled at me sweetly and I couldn't help myself. I got down on my knees and cupped her face in my hands pulling her to me. My lips smashed against hers kissing her lovingly and with need. Pulling back, I smiled at her and stood back up.

"OK Victoria, I think I need to just show you. Please don't get scared and don't run away." I look into her eyes pleading with her. She nodded her head, and I stepped a little further back. "Just watch, don't run." I said. I removed my shirt and pants and stood before her in my boxers. Her cheeks turned a bright shade of red and she looked down. "No baby, eyes on me. I need you to see this." She lifted her head and looked me in the eyes. I let my wolf take over letting the change come over me falling to my knees. My bones snapped and cracked, and everything shifted as fur sprouted out all over my body. I heard gasps from Victoria but could tell she was still sitting on the blanket. After shifting I locked eyes with my mate and waited for her complete reaction. Her mouth was hung open and she looked completely shocked. I decided I would lay down and place my head on my paws to see if it would make her more comfortable. After a few minutes she slowly raised up on her hands and knees and inched a little closer with her eyes trained on me. I started inching my way crawling on my belly keeping my eyes fixed with hers.

"Leo? Is that really you?" She said softly. I lifted my head and nodded, and she gasped. "It really is you. You're the Alpha. My alpha that's been coming to my house." I huffed and crawled a little closer. Victoria crawled to the edge of the blanket where I laid and slowly stuck her hand out. I quickly flicked my tongue out and licked her palm before she rubbed my head gently scratching behind my ears. My wolf purred and rolled towards her wanting more. She giggled and scratched his belly causing his hind foot to twitch. "How is this possible?" she mused as she continued to rub my fur. After a few minutes I stood and backed away shifting back to my human form. I quickly grabbed my pants putting them on so my mate wouldn't be embarrassed.

"Victoria, I'm a werewolf. I am the alpha of a huge pack of werewolves. Do you know what a mate is?" She still had a shocked look on her face, but she didn't look scared.

"Mate?" She asked looking confused.

"Yes, a mate." I said taking her hand in mine.

"Well, like I said I read that wolves have a mate, and they stay with them for life. Why do you ask." I take and push a stray piece of hair behind her ear.

"That's true wolves have mates. It's their other half the Moon Goddess grants each wolf a mate and they mate for life. You are my mate Victoria. You are the other half of my soul." She lets out a little gasp and covers her mouth with her hand.

"Leo, I'm human how can I be your mate?" She says with a sad look in her eyes.

"You are my mate the Moon Goddess has said so." I say looking in her eyes pleading with her to understand and accept me.

"But how do you know? I mean how can you tell I'm your mate?"

"Your smell was the first give away. You smelled better than anything in this world to me. Then there is the pull. My heart and soul want to be with you all the time. Do you ever feel drawn to me? I know you are human, but I think you should feel something." She nods and laces her finger with mine.

"I have felt something. From the first day I let you touch me, and I have never been one to let people touch me. I always feel so safe with you. I felt like you would never let me down and would always be there for me." She looks at our hands then back up in my eyes.

"You were feeling the mate bond. It gets stronger everyday we are together. More so for me. My wolf has been wanting to claim you, but I knew I couldn't."

"Why can't you?" She looked at me shyly.

"Well, here is the deal my love. I knew you were my mate, but I knew something was really wrong with your health, but what I didn't know. As werewolves we don't get sick like humans."

"Really? No cancer?" She looks at me shocked. I sadly shake my head no.

"But since I found out what was wrong, I have had my pack doctors and elders searching for something that could help you. I don't want to lose my mate." I watch as Victoria's head falls, and tears drip into her lap. "No baby don't cry." I say lifting her and sliding her into my lap wiping the tears from her cheeks. "I have found an elder that says she can help you." She sniffs and wraps her arms around me.

"Really? Can she cure me?" I pull back and look into her eyes.

"She says it will cure you.......but you will become like me."

"A werewolf?"

"Yes, you will change and become a werewolf."

"No more cancer? I get to be with you?" She looks at me with hope in her eyes.

"Yes baby. No more cancer and we will mate, and you will be my Luna. We will live a long and happy life with our pups."

"I'll have baby wolves?" She says with shock in her voice. I laugh and kiss her lips softly.

"No, you will have babies, but they will be like us and turn when they come of age." She pulls me in wrapping her arms around me running her hands through my hair. "Do you accept me and my wolf as your mate Victoria?" She pulls back with tears in her eyes and captures my lips with hers before pulling back nodding her head.

"Yes! Yes I accept you Leo." I breath out a sigh of relief before kissing her again.
