Chapter Thirty-Three

writers block to the max, man. also i write in all lowercase now, deal with it. jkjk ily guys 🙄. anyways.... uh read it :) also thank you Lasagna_in_my_pants for helping me through my writers block they basically came up with this idea ngl also this is not proofread, so i hope it's not too terrible

"can you please hurry up?" Steven groaned. he grabbed your hand and pulled you further along, making you stumble over your feet a bit.

"i'm going as fast as i can! maybe you should slow down." you sighed. your eyes wandered to the ocean on your right, the red and orange sunset casting a picture perfect reflection on the water. "wait wait, look at the sunset." you yanked on stevens arm, pulling him to a complete stop and making him turn.

"it's very pretty Y/N. now let's go." he muttered. then he gripped your hand again and continued to pull you along.

"rude. why are you in such a hurry?" you did your best to catch up to the magical boy, but his legs were longer than yours, so your efforts were all to no avail.

Steven paused. "no reason. just want to... make you run? you know, exercise is healthy."

"yeah, okay sure." the two of you had stepped off of the warp pad a little while ago, and had been walking through light forest for what felt like hours.

finally, Steven pulled you out of the greenery, and onto a sandy surface. it looked a lot like the sands of Beach City, but much prettier. the water was blue and sparkling, there was wildlife all around, and everything was happy.

"woah." you whispered.

Steven tightened his grip on your hand. "do you... like it?" he asked slowly.

you offered him a crooked smile and nodded. "yeah, but we live by the beach, why'd you bring me all the way out here?"

"privacy?" Steven shrugged. "i don't know! just enjoy the sunset with me."

you snickered, lowering yourself onto the sand and pulling steven down with you. "is this why you were rushing me?"

"maybe."

it was a calm moment. holding hands with Steven and watching the sunset. there was something so innocent about it, the soft smiles resting on your faces, the comfortable silence.

when the sun finally did set, you stood up and brushed your pants off. "where are you going?" steven asked.

"home? it's getting dark, and we still have to walk all the way back to the warp pad." you pulled him up, looping your arm through his.

steven furrowed his brows, a dark look briefly crossing his face, before he pulled you to a stop. "or we could just..." he grabbed onto you tightly before he pushed himself up into the air, floating slowly down back to the warp pad- well, where the warp pad used to be.

"what the- Steven, where'd the warp pad go?" you asked.

he let go of you, doing a 360° before shrugging. "maybe we're in the wrong spot?"

you ran a hand through your hair, letting out a huff of frustration. "how are you so calm? we're basically stuck on an island now!"

Steven laid a comforting hand on your shoulder. "relax N/N, it's okay. we can just stay here tonight, and find the warp pad in the morning!"

you nodded slowly. "right, yeah. okay."

turns out, you did not find the warp pad in the morning. or the next day.

"Steven? are we out of fish?" you yelled from inside your makeshift home. you figured out how to set up some large leaves and tie them at the top like a teepee. it wasn't great, but it was shelter.

Steven peeked his head into the leafy home. "i think so, Sadie taught me how to catch some, do you want me to go?"

you nodded. "sure, have you had any luck finding the warp pad?"

"no." Steven frowned. "its okay, we'll find it soon."

Steven ducked out of the hut, walking towards the water with a content smile. he certainly seemed to be enjoying his time here. it was a little annoying. and suspicious.

a few moments later, the ground rumbled and there was a loud roar. a flock of birds took off from deep in the forest, leaving the island in a hurry.

you stepped outside, looking towards the beach side the noise was coming from. "what was..." there was a large blue gem standing there. the size of a tree, maybe bigger, with large spikes coming out of its back. it caught sight of you, and began to rush over in a rage.

before anything could happen, you were incased in a pink bubble, Steven wrapping his arms around you for extra protection. "i'm sorry Y/N. if i knew there were gems here i wouldn't have let us stay." he muttered.

you weren't sure you had heard him correctly, but before you could press him on it the corrupted gem began to swipe at the bubble. "we need to find-"

Steven cut you off. "i need to get you out of here, hold on." he quickly dropped the bubble, throwing a pink shield at the gem. he held you close, boosting himself up and into the forest. he quickly kicked aside a few large leaves, revealing the shiny warp pad, good as new.

"Steven?" you stared at him, confused.

"i'm sorry, i know! can we talk about this at home though?" steven pleaded.

you away from him. "it- was it here the whole time? but you said... steven what's going on?"

the sound of stomping footsteps interrupted you, and steven grabbed your hand to bring you up onto the warp pad.

in the storm of emotions, a pink and (f/c) hue surrounded your bodies, and everything was different.

you were taller? and stronger?

Steven?

Y/N?
did we...

Steven did we just-

WE FUSED Y/N!

yeah i got that. we- you hid the warp pad, Steven.

i just wanted to- watch out!

(fusion name) jumped out of the corrupted gems way, summoning a (weapon) and running towards the gem. (f/n) was stronger than the two separately, jumping higher and landing on the gem easily. the gem was crushed into the ground, and simply swiped at the fusion again.

the (weapon) successfully struck the gem, and the monster exploded into dust. (f/n) shook, and suddenly you and Steven were two again.

Steven had starstruck features. "we fused!" he celebrated.

you stood up slowly, and brushed the dirt off of your back. there was no describable expression on your face, just confusion. you started towards the warp pad silently, and Steven grabbed your arm. "we- y/n?"

you yanked your arm away from him, sending him a murderous glare. "don't touch me."
