you were borrowing Steven's old clothes, mostly because you didn't want to walk all the way home and get your own. you shoved on a red shirt with a star on it and baggy black shorts.

when you exited the bathroom, you saw Steven laying a pillow and a few blankets down on the couch. "i'll sleep down here, and you can take my bed."

you shook your head. "no way, i'll sleep on the couch. you should sleep in your bed."

"you're the guest, this is non-negotiable." Steven crossed his arms, making the thick muscle of his bicep bulge over his chest.

you had to force your eyes to meet his as you groaned, knowing there was no arguing with him. "fine."

he smiled in satisfaction. "we don't have to go to bed now, though. we could watch another movie?" he guided you up the stairs to his room. "i called the gems, they live with me, and they said they would be back home tomorrow afternoon, so we have the house to ourselves!"

you both sat down on the bed as the movie started playing. after a couple of minutes you both slipped under the covers, turning the lamp off and allowing the light from the TV illuminate the room.

about halfway into the movie Steven looked over to make a joke, only to find you fast asleep. he smiled to himself, clicking off the TV and sitting up to move downstairs.

she's so cute! i should kiss her forehead before i leave. no, steven, that's weird. don't do that. no you should do it, that's sweet! but what if it wakes her up? that'd be so awkward.

he fell asleep trying to decide.

-.-.-.-.-
the morning rays of sunlight woke you up. you moved to stretch, only to find yourself trapped under Steven's arm.

oh shit, i thought he was going to take the couch... not that i'm complaining.

you decided to wiggle out of his grip, and move to the couch yourself before Steven woke up and the two of you were forced into an awkward conversation. but when you tried to sit up, his hold only tightened. and my stars was he strong. his appearance didn't do him justice; you wouldn't be surprised if he could lift up a bus with one hand.

he pulled you in close against his chest, a small smile resting on his face as he sighed contently. you closed your eyes, willing yourself to drift off to sleep once again, seeing as you wouldn't be getting up anytime soon.

-.-.-.-.-.-
steven yawned as soon as he gained consciousness, opening his eyes slowly as the memories of yesterday flooded back into his mind.

he immediately moved away from you, rolling to the other side of the bed quietly. he prayed that you had been asleep this whole time, and he wouldn't have to apologize and explain that he just tended to be a cuddly sleeper! it wasn't his fault! he peeked over at you, watching you turn away from him in your sleep.

steven slid out of bed when he was sure you were still out of it and floated out his bedroom and down the stairs. he jumped onto the couch and laid down on the pillow he had set out for himself last night.

he checked his phone, finding it was only 8:00, and decided he could definitely sneak a few more minutes of sleep in before you woke up.

-.-.-.-.-
you woke up again around 8:45, and quickly noticed Steven wasn't in bed with you anymore. after a good stretch you stumbled up and padded down the stairs. you looked around the sunny space, spotting him fast asleep on the couch.

oh, i see what he did there.

you pulled your phone out of your -his- shorts pocket and sat down on the edge of the couch, far enough away that you wouldn't disturb him.

you scrolled through the usual bout of morning app notifications, finding a text from one of your 'friends'.

Lindsay: Hey girl! You want to come to the mall with us today?

you sighed. Lindsay, Grace, and Anna had discluded you countless times, made you feel worthless, and talked about you behind your back. yet they still invited you out for some reason. you always speculated they saw you as the "duff" of the group (even though you were much better looking than them) and used you to make themselves look better.

after a moments hesitation, you answered her.

You: sure what time?

Lindsay: Noon. See you xx

Lindsay was the worst. she stole your boyfriends, made fun of you and your parents, and somehow always managed to sneak in backhanded comments about your looks and class. who knew why you still put up with her.

"good morning." Steven suddenly spoke groggily. he sat up and rubbed his eyes, yawning.

"morning, Steven." you murmured.

"do you want some cereal?" he got up slowly, shuffling over to the kitchen.

"yeah, sure. i've gotta leave before noon, my friends want me to go to the mall with them." you followed him and sat down at the counter as he poured milk into two pink ceramic bowls.

"do you need a ride?" he handed you the bowl and sat down beside you with a yawn.

"that's okay, i can walk. let me give you my number though, we can hang out sometime." you wrote your number down on a post-it note you found on the counter and stuck it on his excitedly waiting palm.

Steven beamed. "thanks!"
