As some of you may know, I'm a biology major. I'm currently in the second semester of my second year, so this upcoming fall will be the start of my third year. I want to go into forensic biology as a career, so I'm one of the few people in my major who doesn't want to go into a type of medical field.
I met with my academic advisor yesterday to talk about scheduling my classes for next year and he gave me an overview of the entire rest of my college career. It lowkey made me wanna cry but *grits teeth* women in STEM, am I right?
Just look at my courses for next year:
SUMMER 2021: —Biology of the Cell —Some kind of field Biology class
FALL 2021: —Organic Chemistry I (🤢🤢) —General Physics I —General Physics I Lab —Genetics —Genetics Lab
WINTER 2022: —General Physics II —General Physics II lab —Organic Chemistry II —Organic Chemistry Lab —Evolutionary Biology

AND TO MAKE IT WORSE, there's an option to "plan ahead" to see what your semester will look like based on what courses are available for that semester, and LITERALLY ALL OF THE OPTIONS FOR PROFESSORS HAD TERRIBLE RATINGS. All of them were like "Never take this professor, SAVE YOURSELF." So basically it's a pick your poison kind of situation and I wanna d word.

Not to mention that for some ungodly reason, most of the classes listed are afternoon/night classes WITH SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD so some days I have classes from 3:30-8:30pm with 15 minute breaks in-between. RIP to eating dinner I guess. The only other option for some of them was 8ams and Lord have mercy I am not taking Organic Chemistry at 8 in the morning.
Also, since I don't know about my housing situation for next year or if all of my classes will be in-person or online, there is a chance I will have to be on campus from 8am—6:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays in the winter semester. At least there's a chance of me not having class on Friday for the fall semester and only having 1 class on Friday for the winter (and that's at noon).
WHY ARE ALL OF THESE CLASSES OUT TO GET ME?? WHY DO ALL OF THE PROFESSORS HERE SUCK?? OH MY GOD. LIKE JESUS CHRIST GET BETTER AT YOUR JOB!!!
Also I am this close👌🏻 to actually failing General Chemistry II (it's a hella hard class here and online it's even worse) so that might mess EVERYTHING up if I have to retake it. It's a pre-requisite to Organic Chemistry, so that would have to be pushed back.
