If I had a dollar for every minute I spent trying to find good family castings for my OCs.... I would be able to pay my university tuition.
For real, this shit is HARD !!!! Especially when you have a faceclaim who is a person of color. The age range for parents can be an incredibly difficult one to find faceclaims of the right ethnicity. The choices are often limited and sometimes I've just given up.
But! I want to celebrate the times I did NOT give up and actually cast entire families. Here are the family trees for my OCs.
MOSTLY GHOSTLY
THE PÉREZ GARCÍA FAMILY
Vera Pérez García — played by Aimee Carrero
Ana García Díaz — played by Celines Toribio
Daniel Pérez Castillo — played by Ramón Rodriguez
*Note: In canon, Vera is said to be the spitting image of her father. This one was difficult because Vera is Dominican and Puerto Rican. There aren't a lot of Dominican-born actresses in their 40s-50s, so when I found Celines, I was ECSTATIC! She and Aimee look a lot alike.
Also, Ramón and Aimee could truly be related. I am so proud of this casting. She looks like a great mix of both of them while still leaning a bit towards her father in terms of basic features.
THE SHIRE FAMILY
Michelle Shire — played by Kristen Bell
Andrew Shire — played by James Franco
Vanessa Shire — played by Taylor Hickson
Dominic Shire — played by Curran Walters
Grayson Shire — played by Asher Angel
Maeve Shire — played by younger!Mckenna GraceThis one is funny because I accidentally made all of the girls blonde and all of the boys brunet. Oops.
Dom's parents are supposed to be pretty young since they were young when they had Vanessa, so I figured people in their early 40s would be good castings. I love Kristen Bell, and my feelings toward James are mehehhhhhhhhhh at best, but whatever. I think his and Kristen's features mix well to create the people I chose for their kids!
