I sat down angrily on the bench
"Kay it's fine" Dwayne said
"No it's not" I said back through my teeth
Coach walked in "Did you all enjoy that?"
"YEAH!" Everyone said
I rolled my eyes
"Okay well so did they, because they're still up three points and we're one period away from defeat" Coach said
Everyone's smile dropped and they sat down
Jesse spoke up "Well if we can't beat them, we might as well keep our pride"
"Pride?!" I said standing up "You call this pride? We may have had fun but we looked like a joke out there!"
They all stared at me with blank faces as I sat back down
Coach started walking around talking "Kay is right... Jesse that's not pride. Sure, when Dwayne roped that big oaf, part of me cheered. But guys I've been there. I know how you feel. I wanted to cream that jerk who busted my knee when I played in the minors. And I really, really wanted to go after Stansson for that cheapshot"
"Ha so did the Portmans" Goldberg laughed
Dean and I both glared at him, making him out his hands up in surrender and everyone else laugh.
Coach laughed then got back on track "but you know what? My knee will heal, and if I become someone I'm not, if I sink to their level. Well then I lost more than my knee"
Wow what a speech.
He continued "We're not goons, we're not bullies. No matter what people say or do, we have to be ourselves."
He pointed at Dean "You. Who are you?"
He looked around uncomfortable and I laughed loudly
He turned to me " Shut up Kay." then turned back "Dean Portman."
"From where?"
"Chicago, Illinois"
"You." Coach said pointing to guy
"Guy Germaine."
"From where?"
"From St.Paul Minnesota"
He pointed to Jesse "You."
"Jesse Hall from Minneapolis, Minnesota"
"Who are you?"
"Julie Gaffney from Bangor, Maine."
Luis stood up "Luis Mendoza. Miami, Florida"
"Greg Goldberg. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania"
"Les Averman. Brooklyn Park, Minnesota" Les said as he dapped Goldberg up
"Fulton Reed. Stillwater Minnesota" He said as Dean stood up hitting him on the shoulder
"Russ Tyler. South Central Los Angeles"
"Charlie Conway. Minneapolis, Minnesota"
"Ken Wu. SanFransico, California"
"Connie Moreau. Minneapolis, Minnesota" She said as Guy stood up next to her
"Adam Banks. Edina, Minnesota"
"Kay Portman. Chicago, Illinois"
"Dwayne Robertson. Austin, Texas" He said standing up and wrapping an arm around me
Ms. MacKay spoke up "Michelle MacKay. Duluth, Minnesota"
"And I'm Gordon Bombay. Minneapolis, Minnesota"
