60. DWAYNE

July 2004

I sat on the bathroom counter alone, while Dwayne was at the grocery store. I stared at the pregnancy test. In 3 minutes my life could completely change. Not that I was against having kids, but Dwayne and I had never talked about it.

One minute had been up when I heard the front door open "KAY! COME HELP ME CARRY THESE GROCERIES IN"

But I was so nervous I couldn't even respond. I sat there nervously when I heard a knock on the bathroom door "Kay you ok?"

I still didn't respond, making Dwayne open the door "What are you doing?"

He looked confused as ever, until he walked over to me and saw the test. I left it turned away so I couldn't see the results until I mentally prepared myself.

"You think you're..?"

"Yes I think I'm pregnant Dwayne why else would I be taking a test?" I snapped

He raised his eyes brows and hands in defense

"Sorry" I mumbled

He took a deep breath and placed his hand on my leg "You ready to see?"

I nodded "Are you?"

He nodded as I flipped the test over. Two lines.

My eyes widened and I looked over at him. He looked at me smiling

"Holy shit" I said "We're gonna be parents" I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I was shocked honestly.

"We're gonna be parents!!" Dwayne repeated excitedly, picking me up and spinning me around making me laugh

He put me down "Wait do you want to keep it?"

"Of course Dwayne" I smiled, making him smile so wide I thought his face would crack

He pulled me in and hugged me tightly before letting go quickly "Shit sorry"

I laughed "It's fine" making him smile again and skip out of the room like a little kid "I cant wait to tell mom and dad!"

I always knew he wanted kids. He LOVES them.

Now all we have to do is break the news to everyone. Starting with Dean. I had to call him since he's in Iceland at the moment with Julie, but I can't wait.

A week later

"Okay you ready to call him?" I asked

"Yeah, he can't hurt me from Iceland" Dwayne smiled making me laugh

I dialed his number and he answered "Hey"

"Hey Dean. Is Julie with you?"

"Yeah I'm here!" I heard Julie say

"Okay so am I on speaker?"

"Yeah get on with it" Dean said

"Well... you guys are gonna be an aunt and uncle" I said nervously

"YES! ABOUT TIME!!!" Julie yelled happily while Dean was silent

I laughed "Yeah about time Julie. Dean?"

"Are you sure you're ready?" He asked

"Well I'm almost 24, married, with a very stable job and a house"

"Okay yeah you're ready but are you actually ready?"

"Yes I am Dean"

"Good. Then I'm happy for you guys" He said

"You cant see but he's smiling like an idiot right now" Julie laughed

"Oh shut up" Dean said making all of us laugh
