techno laughs, pulling out of the parking garage. before they knew it, they were on the highway.
the two listen to his music, sibyl granting him the godtier power of aux, as she worded it.
she picks at her nails, cursing herself for not painting them. she looks out the window, green eyes scanning over the all to familiar view, but this time it felt different.
she felt as if she was looking at the view for the first time, despite falling asleep while looking at it every day after school as a child.
she smiles, turning to look at techno. his eyes were on the road, one hand on the steering wheel and his other arm propped up on the middle console.
she smiles softly, committing the sight to her mind before he breaks the silence. "you alright?"
"yeah, why?"
"you zoned out." he says, his eyes flickering over to her just long enough to look at her.
she remains silent, only smiling and looking back at the road. thanks to daylight savings time, the sun was already tucking behind the horizon.
"why is it so dark already?" techno asks, checking the time. "it's only five."
"winter, my friend."
"this isn't fucking alaska."
"never said it was." she laughs, rolling her eyes. "it's nice being on this highway when the sun is setting, though. only in the winter, it's the best in the winter."
"in general or just the sunsets?"
"just the sunsets. i hate the cold." she says, turning to face him. "are you a warm or cold person?"
"cold." he says.
"what the fuck?" she gasps, "i'm a warm person. i only like to be cold when i'm trying to sleep."
"i hate trying to sleep in a warm room." he groans, "no matter what you do, you're still sweating bullets."
"yes!" she says, "when you're cold, you can fix that."
"but i hate warm weather, too. i burn so easily."
"i just like being able to wear shorts and shit, i hate when it's hot." she says, "but i really like to swim."
"i do too. that's really the only reason i like warm weather."
"until you burn?"
"until i burn."
"i tan like there's no tomorrow, but i really don't like to. i don't look right with a tan." she says, "i like, blend in with my hair."
he laughs, rolling his eyes. "like a hair monster."
"not true!" she groans.
techno turns into a parking lot of a small building, old-timey almost. he parks the car, unbuckling his seatbelt and turning to face her.
