I can't promise you fair sky above

Can't promise you kind road below

But I'll walk beside you, love

Any way the wind blows

Peter's POV

"Today marks seven years since the attack by Erik Lehnsherr on the White House," I hear the reporter say on the tv. "The now fugitive fought for mutant superiority, using any means to get it. The question still remains as to where this dangerous man is hiding and if he will return."

Seven years...

Even seven years passing hasn't made this situation any easier

Even seven years passing hasn't made this situation any easier. Actually, it might've made it worse. After learning that he is... well, it's only made me feel worse about the fact that we let him out.

I walk upstairs to see Elizabeth is the only one that's awake beside me. Granted, I'm normally not awake this early but since it's today... Let's just say I didn't sleep well last night.

"Good morning," Elizabeth greets me groggily.

"Hey," I reply less than enthusiastically.

I pour a bowl of cereal and sit down at the kitchen table across from her. Neither one of us says very much due to the fact that we haven't exactly completely woken up yet. The TV is running in the background... still playing the same broadcast.

"Seven years ago..." Elizabeth says. "It's been... wow."

"Yeah... It's just..."

"What is it?"

"I've seen the guy we busted out of the Pentagon on tv a lot. Is he really... evil? Like is he what they say?"

"I don't believe so. I don't think anyone who's truly evil could save a child from the people that killed her mother."
